Rangers boss Ally McCoist claims he is stunned by losses of £67m at Ibrox, which were revealed in a review into the club's finances last week.

"I am hoping that the club moves forward but I was staggered at the losses, the money that has gone for one reason or another," he said."And I probably should mention that I am totally against any indication that the players have the money. One or two people have wrongly questioned players coming in and money being spent.
"Just to put the record completely straight on that, we didn't spend any money at all on the players, the budget came down, the wages in relation to turnover at the club is probably the envy of any club in world football.

<laugh> <laugh>

What a lying ****ebag. "Dinnae blame me or the players for the financial mess"

Today:

"So although some of the money has gone on players' wages, it is a very small fraction of where the money has gone. It (ratio) is maybe 27/28 per cent. I think the lowest in the Championship last year was 53 or 54 per cent so that would give you the indication that the players' budget should be well within the overall turnover".

28 March 2014:
Ally McCoist has dismissed claims by that he built an 'unsustainable' squad, insisting that he shaped the team while reducing the wage bill.
Rangers chairman David Somers made the comment after the club's interim results showed a £3.7m loss for the seven months to December 2013.
At the start of that period, McCoist added nine new faces to his squad, signing Cammy Bell, Steve Simonsen, Bilel Mohsni, Steven Smith, Richard Foster, Nicky Law, Arnold Peralta, Nicky Clark and Jon Daly.

However, Somers suggested in the club's interim report that such additions were not affordable. He said: "Operating costs had been running at a rate that could not be sustained by the revenue being generated by the Club. "For example, in the period under review, nine players were signed at a time when the Club already had the second highest wage bill in Scottish football whilst playing in the third tier." However, McCoist has insisted that his squad required the new faces if they were to compete in League One and in the three cup competitions.

When asked if he agreed with Somers' assessment, he said: "I don't know, I don't do the accounts, I don't do the finances.

"We felt we needed to bring a lot of players in to win the league, to get to the final of the Ramsdens, to get to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. And we did that. "I'm led to believe the wages came down from the previous year. So (whether it was sustainable) is something you would have to ask other people. I don't do the finances."

<laugh> You won a part time league against guys that are brickies and postmen, and got shown up in the cups by opposition teams with a fraction of your budget.

He almost sounds satisfied with abject failure.

The q&a with him in the record is top notch. 'Were you the highest paid individual at the club for a long time' - 'I dont know'.

What he knows changes depending on what he's being asked and when, he does not know about wages and so on, but he knows the percentages.

Aye, and he doesn't know the people on a panel even though he was told hours before. He's a sleekit, wee bastard.
