not sure mate tbh.

The attitude of give me a place in the 1st team or I go somewhere else and Sunderland are waiting bothers me somewhat. Don`t know why but it does.

there`s a niggle there?

As much as i think rose is a great player, contreao (sp) is a magnificent player, danny has no hope at spurs of getting in the side over him imho and that deal is supposedly imminent

I was thinking that.

Hope we sign them both. We could do with both. Then Jack has 6 months to prove himself in his favored position as he wants, provided of course he earns his place in the side.

All for competition for places me like

I'd love to see that mate from having no lb's to shelling out £11m on 2 would be immense

No way in.hell wed sign both and it would be a waste of money also. We aren't Man united and can't have expensive players sitting on the bench as back up unfortunately.

Afraid I don't see much in that Danny Rose interview. I think he'll stay and excel at spurs. Until they sign Coentrao I don't think we have a shot.

I can see what your saying but flip it a bit. Rose has had a season of first team action every week, he has felt the love up here. I find it refreshing he doesn't want to sit on the bench in the Capital.
Whilst I'm not saying he will come back to us I can understand if he wants more of what he had last year and Spurs ain't giving him that.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed defender Fabio Coentrao has asked for a transfer.

Portugal left-back Coentrao was left out of Ancelotti's squad for their La Liga opener against Real Betis on Sunday, with the Italian boss revealing 'he has asked to leave'.

Coentrao has been linked with a number of Premier League teams, although he has indicated a desire to play in the Champions League, which could make life tougher for Tottenham to sign one of their targets.

Madrid paid more than £25m for the 25-year-old when he joined from Benfica in the summer of 2011 but Spurs are believed not to be willing to go above £17m to bring him to England.

Their interest in Coentrao comes at a time when talk continues over Gareth Bale, who has been a Madrid target for most of the summer.

Ancelotti said he was happy with his squad heading into the season-opener but admitted Bale would be a welcome addition as 'great players always bring things to a team'.

Hes the left back i want to see most of all in the Sunderland top... but if he goes to Spurs and we can get Danny, then that will do for me!

this and the bale transfer if it happens will start a chain of events imo and should pave the way for rose to us, we hope

Real Madrid's long-running pursuit of forward Gareth Bale, 24, is close to a conclusion with Tottenham poised to accept an offer of £93m plus 25-year-old Portuguese wing-back Fabio Coentrao.

Does this mean Rose is on his way?

If we were only able to sign one more player this transfer window I would be very happy if it was Rose.

We know what we are getting in Rose the lad is pure class & the best LB I've seen play for Sunderland (Even better than Mickey Gray IMO)

He has already came out and said that if hes not playing he wants away but whether Levy lets him go is another thing.

he will cost £6M plus, which is a lot considering how much we have spent and still need a CM but it would be a sound investment because we could have a quality left back in place for the next 6 years.

Thing is though, we have'nt spent a great deal and considering how much tv money we get now, we should have loads sat in the bank waiting to be spent.
