Yes there is and how do you know City wont ? Horses for courses sometimes. Another option to the boring and out-dated 4-4-2 system.
Only when a sweeper system is in use. Its more 3- 5 - 2 or 4 -4 - 2 or 4 - 3- 3 but if the personel is right they can change into any combo you want. Attack with the ball and defend when you have not. The point being is that Citys squad has alot of flexibility and options for NP which he did niot have for much of last season.
Another centre back would be a good idea and Ayala fits the bill for the simple reason that you know what you are getting. I'd like to see Ayala return and it would be a shame if the only thing preventing this signing was a small amount of money. It may well be that Ayala is considering his options and he may have more than one. Ayala joining City may still happen.
Mate that's nonsense. 442 is becoming outdated yes, but that's because it's too attacking and managers are becoming too scared to use it and they prefer to be boring and pack the midfield. I'm really grateful we now have a decent manager who will play 442 unlike PB who was **** scared of attacking (remember his 4-5-***an? That was a boring system) The people above have gone into how wingers and wing backs are mutually exclusive, I won't repeat what they've said. Play to your strengths and that, our natural width on the left side in Dudgeon and Brady is one such strength we should play to, not shoe-horn them out of the team to accomodate a 3rd centre back.
Mate. I respect your opinion and thats what makes football. Everyone has there own opinions on formation. In my day i loved playing with 2 wingers who hugged the touchline and got to the byline. That way the defence is stretched and leaves more room in the middle for the strikers and attacking midfielders. 4-5-1 can soon be 4-3-3 subject to the personel. Like ive said, i now pre-fer a 3 - 5- 2. weather NP will ever go that way only time will tell.
roseinor mcshane hobbs chester east bradley dawson dudgeon ----------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- ---------------------McKenna-------------------- ----------------------Adebola-------------------- win win
roseinor mcshane hobbs chester east bradley dawson dudgeon ----------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- ---------------------McKenna-------------------- ----------------------Adebola-------------------- win win .................... yeah just play with 10 and no goalie.
One cannot field a team with only 10 players, the goalkeeper is not really included in formations though unless it's fly goalie mcshane
Yes but don't you think that the formation used should be decided by what players are available? For example we have Dudgeon and Brady on the left, Rosenior and Koren/Stewart on the right. That natural width is a strength of our squad. So you'd want to choose a system that includes full backs and wingers. We also have a good striker in Fryatt who needs a decent partner to work with, so a front 2 should be included. I can't think of a formation other than 4-4-2 that includes a front 2, 2 wingers and full backs.
ahhhh, pontifications what you need! 4-3-3, flat back 4, evans and cairney either side of mckenna then brady and stewart floating around wide with fryatt spearheading. koren takes the stewart role until he's fit and when stewart is back, koren takes cairneys place. nice strong central core in midfield with space for dudgeon and rosenior to move forward either side, lots of nice positive overlapping! its not the formation bible, its just an option instead of 4-4-2. id feel fairly secure defensively and could see goals there! COYH
I'd imagine that's one of the few alternatives to 4-4-2 that NP would seriously consider. But however good it looks on paper, I can imagine Fryatt feeling a bit isolated with no strike partner.
Yes mate. I cannot agree more when playing wingers. But at times City will have to pick a team Without Wingers due to say injury, suspension, type of opposition etc etc. But when City face teams who play 4 - 5 - 1, then surely 3 - 5 - 2 is the best way to go.? You have there striker covered, you match there midfield which is always the key to any game ? Looking around the championship i expect over the season NP will use many variations on formations to suit A particular game. The squad we have now is as strong as its been for ages and i expect others to arrive soon once that leach is binned. Dont for get OLI> he will be either be played by City or used in a player exchange maybe. Not since the first PL season have i been this excisted for a season to start. UTT COYH
Personally I can't see 3-5-2 being used in the near future. I can't recall seeing any team ever use it except on FIFA. But I agree with your other points.
CHHERS MATE. Well just as an example, Holloway likes the 3 - 2 - 3 - 2 system at times and i will be very intrigues to see what his formations and tacttics are for the august 5th game. whatever it is i expect blackpool to come and attack. that game could well be a classic. get your sky+ pre-set folks.
My reasoning for a third centre half of proven championship quality is more about cover against injuries and suspensions than anything else.
