I am backing a horse tomorrow simply because the price on offer is way too good to ignore. I am not certain that he will win but at his best he certainly would in my view. Two bookies have odds available. With one bookmaker he is 7-2. I think that is fair representation of his chance. The other bookmaker though, William Hill, is going 8-1. For me it's a no-brainer. At that price I simply have to back it.

Anything about the runners from Lawney's yard? I quite fancy one at Hunts against her... will wait for a price on the 4.20. Any views on the race in general?

The stable did have a winner today but these races are always a minefield for me with most runners static or on the downgrade and open to little improvement.One supposes that should mean the top rated ought to win with no one harbouring any secrets but that is too simplistic.

8's is fair for your fella in a five horse race with all having a seemingly equal chance on the book.

Apparently the busy favourite Es Que Love is off to Oliver Brady's for a holiday after this.
 
4.10 Ripon

Osteopathic Remedy 16/1

This race is Osteopathic Remedy's main target every year and he boasts an absolutely superb record in it winning it 3 times in 2012, 2010 and 2008 whilst he was also placed in the race in 2011 and 2009 and given how well he has done in this race I am stunned to see him at such a big price. Now a 9 year old, Osteopathic Remedy's ability and enthusiasm has not wavered despite his age and he comes here attempting to win this race for the 4th time off a mark of 90. His highest win in this race came off a mark of 87 (twice) and his victory in this race last year came off a mark of 85 but he was successful off a 1lb higher mark last year so I have no doubts that he has the ability to win this off his current mark. He proved his well being with a very good 2nd off this mark 2 starts back at Ayr and although he was a fair bit below par in the Thirsk Summer Cup on his latest start he finished down the field in the same event last year before bouncing back to win this again. The excellent Connor Beasley takes the ride and a very valuable 5lb off and he partnered Osteopathic Remedy to success at Ayr last year and was on board when a fast finishing runner up 2 starts back. Trainer Michael Dods has had a terrific season so far and remains in really good form and you can guarantee that he has Osteopathic Remedy spot on in an attempt to win this race again. The draw has been kind as Osteopathic Remedy as he has bagged a great position in stall 2 and I am sure another big run is on the cards. His current price tag of 16/1 is absolutely huge in my eyes and it would be fantastic if this gelding can score in this contest for the 4th time.

I would be on BALINROAB Nass. Back to a mark he should be going close off and recent change of scenery may just freshen him up enough. I doubt the favourites ability to see this trip out on softer ground.
 
Thinking of booking for a long trip down south to champions day in october. Anyone have any experiences and if its worth it?
 
Also why the hell is there 7 afternoon meetings tomorrow and no evening races? Which idiot does the schedule for these?
 
Guys - am off to Warwick racecourse tomorrow... err later today.... any tips other than The Cheka which stick put up???

Ive been the last two years. It was good but absolutely packed. May not be as bad this year though with Frankel not being there. Im planning on going again this year as i havent been to the races since Cheltenham and im getting withdrawal symptoms <laugh>

Never any evening meetings on Bank Holidays SMP...not in the last 30 years at least.

Not sure why since holiday preferences,destinations and subsequent working practices are very different these days.
 
For obvious reasons ZAROSA in the 5.10 at Newcastle for me today.

Currently a best priced 16/1 she loves to have cut in the ground and has been working well at home. She won at the course back in April and the trip is no issue having won over the same distance last year at Nottingham.

A sentimental bet, yes, but the yard is back in form after a long cold spell (last 3 runners have produced 2 winners and 1 third - if you count the Town Plate which is not technically run under Rules!)

That was the one for me too, hopefully kid gloves by DOR is what he needs and I am willing to forgive his run in headgear. I quite liked his run after his victory off 110 and I think he is back to a very fair mark if on a going day.

Somebody from Racing For Change should be strung up today to celebrate their toothless hypocrisy.

They have moved fixtures around throughout the calendar to try and create a scenario where there is a big feature race on every Saturday because they see that as the perfect advertising opportunity; as a day when they can attract new racegoers. They have largely ignored Sundays unlike the Irish and the French.

Today, on a summer Bank Holiday (not Scotland), there are eight English/Welsh meetings and there is a £15k nursery at Newcastle, a couple of valuable handicaps at Epsom; and a £20k handicap and a six runner £30k Listed two-year-old race at Ripon. The rest of the racing is standard Monday mediocrity - people might as well go to Cleethorpes and see donkeys that they can let their kids ride.

At Ripon, David O&#8217;Meara has strong chances with his three runners, including Robert The Painter seeking a four-timer off top weight in their valuable handicap, with a claimer aboard to offset 5lbs of his 8lb rise.

Is it practical to train to London and then train to ascot on a race day?
