    £10million <laugh>

**** me. What's happened to value for money these days?

Don't get me wrong, Crouch is a decent player, but £10mill for a 30 year old (soon 31) like him is madness. If it was Dimitar Berbatov, then fair enough, but Crouch?

'Arry will be laughing his head off. No doubt about it. I bet he never thought he could bag £10mill for a player like that of that age.

Mind you, if it ends up working for you guys, then that's fair game.

In my opinion, Crouch is a very underrated player who has surpringly good ground skills for someone so tall. Dare I say it, with his abilities and strengths he reminds me a lot of Niall Quinn...
Having said that, I do think 10 million is a lot to pay, but if it kick starts our season it will be worth every penny.

I like Crouch as a player, his attitude when on the pitch is admirable.
Never tries to hide (hard to do at his size) and always looks to be giving 100%.

My problem is £10,000,000 for a 31 year old is a bit much imho. (Quite a lot too much actually)

No way to say this without mentioning tactics again, but I fear hoof ball will never leave the SOL.
Even though Crouch is a more than capable footballer.

**** it's hard trying to make a point without using the Bruce word.

Wow, £10million. Talk about being ripped off.

Surely that should just get put to that Cisse, you lot are supposedly after?

Or has he turned you down?

I think this is pathetic to be honest!!

10 million for a 31 year old striker way past his best IMO, yes England scoring record was imense but his club record aint the best and recently has been gash!

Spurs will of had our pants down with this one if it goes through like!

    Typical predictable Sunderland!

And there will be hoof ball and i was starting to think we got away from that!

Hope im proven wrong but 10 million is a ****in joke!!!!

Crouch is good, but he's not necessarily what we need. We have been making chances and we need another out and out finisher. He can hold the ball up and he'll score a few, but I am not convinced. And £10M to that spiv sticks in my throat!

Don't give a sh*t (in the nicest possible way) what people think about me being negative but no way do I want this lanky string of pi*s. If we sign this tw*t then it's f**king hoofball all the way. No No No.

    How about this.

Quinn is in Germany talking to a guy we can get for £8m. Correct?

It comes on ssn we have the ability to offer £10m for Crouch.

Quinn turns to German. Says "tell you what lad, sign for us and there's £2m extra wages we can discuss"

    Any thoughts?

Not my money we are spending, and Crouch would probably not be my choice, but if it is £10m then so be it, we have had 8 months to sort this and now with 24 hours left we have to get 1 or 2 strikers in pronto..own fault for messing around, I thought PDC or the german would be better, but what do I know..

This the same Crouch that turned us down a year ago? His missus changed her mind about moving to Sunderland?

Can't see it somehow but as people have said we've only got ourselves to blame for still needing a striker so late in the transfer window, teams will rip us blind.

There will be absolutely zero sell on value and I'm sceptical whether Short would sanction such a signing?

If it was £5m id think it was a canny deal but 10m is taking the p*ss. Desperation comes to mind. id rather we paid 5m over the odds for cisse.
