FYI... I know it's a bit of a tangent but, I was curious, so I googled what type of weapons are used for homicide in US.
Rifles make up only 2.7% of homicides.
Shotguns 1.4%
Although both those numbers could be higher because a whopping 23% is unknown firearm.
Handguns however make up 46% of all homicides (and if you assume they make up a large portion of that 23% unknown, means they're probably well over 50%)
It makes sense... If you're a jealous wife catching your husband red handed in an affair, you're more likely to have a pistol in your purse than a shotgun. Or if you're a gang member on the street, you're not going to have a rifle hidden in your waistline.
Shotguns are great for shoot rodents. Rifles are great for hunting deer. The only thing pistols and revolvers are intended to shoot is people.
