Maybe, but at the cost of 50+ runs an innings when you bat? Foakes is decent, but not in the same class as Bairstow with a bat in his hand.
Needed that. Had a feeling this session was going to see the game go away from us. Need to wrap this innings up now (easier said than done, but they effectively have 3 No.11s after Cummins)
What a pudding of a pitch this is mind. If you wanted a pitch designed to negate a positive, attacking approach, and take cricket back to the slo-mo days of the early sixties, this would be it. I've not seen anything like it. But we've had the chances and should be batting now, as their last three would have struggled under pressure. You rarely get away with missing as many against a team probably better than you are. Robinson looks woefully short mind. Slow and no threat at all, especially on a pitch where hardly anything bounces. I'd have had Potts in for him next game. Wood and Mahmood, if he's fit, have to be considered. Need some pace I'd say. Looking like we'll need rain to get out of this, as even Cummings looks as if he could bat all day .
Something to watch while it's raining at Edgebaston. https://www.youtube.com/live/yoArKnwLCBQ?feature=share
Probably not, but the lights and people paying a lot of money has changed the game. Crawley going was the blow for me. Ducket deserves his chance, but I can see him nicking to gully and third slip all summer against these taller quicker bowlers. Need a decent first hour tomorrow or it could be done.
