It has a capacity of 55,000 and regularly gets 37,000 for IPL games. For the 4th day of a Test India looked very likely to win I would have expected a lot more.

True.
The Indian commentators seemed pleased with the attendances. 30k for each of the two previous days too.
I suppose they would want to big it up though.
There's no doubt that white ball cricket is having a seriously detrimental effect on all aspects of test cricket.

Haha SB. What would hurt? We won - you lost, and you're hypocrites. :1980_boogie_down:
Well, as my friend Stainsey says, we’re all hypocrites. The trick is to know that and live with it, not spend your life trying to find faults to match your own in others as if that gives you absolution. And then call a press conference to have a good cry.

So no actual response to the article. Just general responses that we're all hypocrites. Seemed a big issue that your guys were the mother Teresa's of world sport before, but now you can't even defend them - which is understandable when their actions can't be defended. Carry on...

I'll respond to the article, then. I thought it was a pathetic attempt to make equivalence between Carey's actions at Lord's and what Foakes did on Sunday when there was really no comparison between the two. Foakes did what most 'keepers do when standing up to the stumps - he waited to see if the momentum from the batsman's attempted stroke would take him out of the crease. What Carey did was to throw the stumps down after Bairstow had grounded his bat and walked down the pitch assuming the ball to be dead when it wasn't - plainly nothing to with the shot he'd played. Foakes possibly went too far in trying to take advantage of Bumrah bizarrely jumping in the air, but the two incidents were really not the same at all.

Interesting. Firstly, Carey threw the ball immediately and not after Bairstow grounded his bat. Next, I don't have an issue with Foakes waiting for the batsman to do something stupid and taking advantage of it. It's the hypocrisy of the responses that I find bizarre. Both keepers had found an opportunity of a batsman being stupid and took advantage of it - or tried to. Both within the rules - they should be treated with the same response. To try and say Foakes was moral in his attempt by saying that he waited for the batsman's momentum to take him out of the crease is ridiculous - he was clearly waiting for him to jump because he'd noted the of behaviour.

Bairstow wasn't trying to gain an advantage and had marked his guard before (stupidly) walking forward.
Bumrah had played an aggressive shot and lost his balance.
There's no comparison between the two scenarios and everyone knows it's just the usual Aussie wind up bollocks.

Lost his balance? He did what he had done a number of times previously and did a strange little jump. <doh>
Also, following Carey's work your opinion was that Bairstow wasn't trying to gain an advantage - neither was Bumrah. Don't let the facts get in the way Col..

I think I might check in on day three or four, otherwise it's pointless in my opinion.
You never know 9's you might miss something historic with this side. I'll stay up as long as I can , always better to see it live if you can. Hoping to see an English opening stand of 200 and then Stokes or Bairstow mullering a century in the final session. If not then maybe the new spinner could take 6 or 7 wickets for us and let Jimmy chip in with a few !
