Ask B-Celtic about this I'm not even joking, in Ballymena Ian Paisley's Free Presbyterians put padlocks on the park swings on a Sunday so the kids can't play on the Sabbath.
Very true

Spot on mate you can totally tell the different styles. Just to make sure we're on the same page. We are talking about the transition from Peter Gabriel to Phil Collins right?
i know for a fact that god is real
i can hear him talking to me in my head....
he keeps saying we all hate leeds scum, we all hate leeds scum.

You can no more prove God is a fairy story than the believers can prove he does exist so it's an unwinnable argument.
absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence - so trying to prove God's existence is a misnomer
I don't think it is about procreation for the sake of procreation
My 6 year old came in from School (a non religious, mixed background school at that) and told me that his teacher had been telling him about god and how the Earth was created in 7 days.
I sat him down and explained that some people believe in god, but not me or his mother and then went on to try explain the theory of evolution. He then went and told his Granny that my daddy says there is no god and you are all full of crapI've had to listen to all sorts of people calling me a bad parent for telling a child there is no god, as if a child should be as a right indoctrinated. How about we let them grow into intelligent adults and then decide for themselves if they believe in a god, why do we need to implant it into their brain from a young age if the theology stands on it's own two feet as an intelligent adult theory?
Me ma was raised a catholic, she calls herself agnostic and never pushed any belief on to me.
At quite a young age I came to the conclusion that "god" was an answer to the question "who created us?" yet just led to the question "who created god?" i.e. replaced one question with another. Can't see how anyone sane could look any deeper than that down that particular cul-de-sac.
But we can disprove 99% of what his followers claim he did/does/can do, so surely that disproves his existence?
It's also the standard position to disbelieve until we can prove otherwise. I ask you, do you believe in the Loch Ness Monster? Most don't, because there is no real evidence for it, yet these same rational people disregard all logic cos a peado in a dress lied to them. Madness.
We don't have to prove his non-existence, believers need to prove his existence. See previous "Loch Ness Monster" comment, or "innocent until proven guilty", until you prove "God" created the world, he didn't, simple as that.
According to the bible, every sexual act must be open to procreation; all contraception is bad.
This is also their reason for the years of unashamed homophobia. Funny how they choose to listen to that, but not "judge not others lest ye be judged yourself", or even "Love Thy Neighbour".
Because it doesn't, Mick. It's all a bunch of bullshit. If the teachings of any religion made sense and weren't full of hypocrisies we wouldn't be having this conversation. If they don't bombard you with this rubbish when you know no better, you will never believe it.
Very interesting that you used the phrase "who created us?" and not "what created us?". Religious nutjobs keep throwing gems out there like "If god didn't create us, who did?". They don't like when you ask them how they know it's a "who" and not a "what".
All a load of old balls if you ask me.
So how do you explain that the majority of the global population believes in a God in some form?

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

70 per cent of Americans believe that aliens from other words visit the Earth in spaceships.
30 per cent of Americans believe they've been abducted by aliens.
Go figure!
No, it means 70 per cent believe in aliens. 30 per cent believe they've been abducted by aliens.
-I speak to God. I go to Elvis Presley concerts. I write letters to Santa Claus. I talk World politics with Adolf Hitler. I write songs with John Lennon. I sold my milk teeth to the tooth fairies.
People who believe in any sort of God need to grow up, accept the 'harsh' reality that there is nothing after you die and basically stop being pathetic wimps.
