stopandslapme - you need to watch out for this one. He's braindead, backward, bitter and argumentative - a lethal combination.

And you can of course provide evidence for this?

He likes to debate as long as it's not mass debate.

I'm the fiercest critic of the Catholic Church until a Protestant attacks them then I feel an urge to defend them. Bloody weird that.

It is yeah, but I hadn't said it was. I am as critical of the church as anyone though

    In answer to your questions

I think you are probably right about that.

    I don't think so.

if you mean the vow of celibacy, then it isn't about denying an urge, its about dedicating your life to the Lord's work.

i don't know what you mean by that.

I don't think it is about procreation for the sake of procreation but the second part may well be true.

that is a bit of an oxymoron.

My 6 year old came in from School (a non religious, mixed background school at that) and told me that his teacher had been telling him about god and how the Earth was created in 7 days.

I sat him down and explained that some people believe in god, but not me or his mother and then went on to try explain the theory of evolution. He then went and told his Granny that my daddy says there is no god and you are all full of crap <laugh> I've had to listen to all sorts of people calling me a bad parent for telling a child there is no god, as if a child should be as a right indoctrinated. How about we let them grow into intelligent adults and then decide for themselves if they believe in a god, why do we need to implant it into their brain from a young age if the theology stands on it's own two feet as an intelligent adult theory?

My niece starting singing a 'rock song' about Jesus being buried for three day and the nasty men thinking they had won but they hadn't etc.

I was thinking she's got Mel Gibson as a teacher FFS!

She tells me off when I blaspheme as well. Christ on a bike gets her rattled.

    She's 5!

Cant agree more Mick.... Dont mean to offend but I would say that the Cathloic church does have a stonger tendency to implant at a younger age than evangelicals....

****....cant wait to the fitba's back....

What is the legalities/rules about the school imparting such information.

Ok I guess if it was in terms of a 'some people believe this" kinda teaching as opposed to teaching the faith.

His teacher is a Yank evangelical, ****ing most mental kind if you ask me. When I was learning Catholic religion in school I mostly got the opinion that the teacher didn't fully believe it themselves <laugh>
