Match Preview;
Coventry have 7 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses so far this season. They have scored 19 and conceded 18, with Viktor Gyökeres their top scorer on 7 goals. They've already won three times in November, beating Blackburn then Watford then Wigan. A run which has seen them move to 12th in the division, only 5 points from the playoffs. Their manager, Mark Robbins, has been very impressive since taking over the then League Two side, in 2017. In his first full season in charge he won the League Two playoffs, and the following year finished 8th in League One. In the 2019/20 season, Coventry only lost 3 games, and were promoted back to the Championship as League One champions. In the last two seasons they have finished 16th and then 12th.
As for us, time to turn things around after two very disappointing results. The losses against West Brom and Huddersfield have really knocked the wind from our sails, and wrecked any momentum that was being built. We are still in the playoffs thanks to earlier good form, but anything less than a win and surely we'll slip down the table, potentially right down to 11th! Changes are needed, and your guess is as good as mine as to how we'll line up, but most importantly, we need to find that spark again, and get Willock/Chair/Dykes linking up again in the way that worked so effectively only a few games ago.
Team News
QPR: Luke Amos, Stefan Johansen and Tyler Roberts are all out. Sinclair Armstrong and Leon Balogun could return.
Coventry: Gus Hamer should be okay after picking up a knock against Wigan in midweek, while Michael Rose is a doubt. But Fantasy Dabo, Liam Kelly, Matty Golden, Martyn Waghorn are all definitely out.
Pre-match Talk
Mick Beale (QPR head coach): “Coventry are a huge threat, but it’s the ideal game for us to respond.
“This season has been a rollercoaster of emotions for them, they are in good form, but we know that things in this league can change very quickly. It will be a tough game, an open one and I am looking forward to it and will be looking for a reaction from a disappointing couple of games.”
As always...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
