Not heard the podcast but agree with your sentiments. Clark always gave 100% on the pitch and somehow managed NEVER to play against us after he left. In any case he was the only 'Sad Makem Bastard' that day. After N/C lost the rest of us were very happy bunnies. As for Coventry, time has healed to a degree. I don't like the Club but that's about it. Then again I have enough on my plate keeping the absolute detestation of Leeds at full temperature to have anything left for lesser sides.
He admits in the podcast that he did want to leave and had told Peter Reid as much before the t-shirt thing even happened. His reason for wanting to leave? He didn't think he could give his all for us if he had to play against Newcastle and he didn't want to not give his all. I can respect that.
Seem to remember a comment once that the shirt wasn’t his idea , he had been tricked into it , or had it forced on him by his mates ?
He reckons someone slipped it over his head he looked down to see what it was, someone took a photo as he did so, then he took it off. But don't take my word for it, listen to the podcast, it's on YouTube.
This is true. I worked with one of his mates that did it. They regretted it afterwards because of all the aggro he received!!
Should have thought about that before he came here then, if thats the case. As mentioned the other day many players have played for both clubs without any problem, It seems that Lee was not one of them, sad but there you go. This latest olive branch, timed with his attempt to break into the NE media circles, makes me just a bit sceptical about his motives tbh.
Well, he probably should have thought of that and it did strike me as lack forethought when I heard that. I'd rather he was honest about it and held his hands up than lie about it, play against them, and not try his hardest. Like Poly says above, he always put in great effort when he did play so you can't say he wasn't committed to our cause for the time he was here.
The chinbastard, chincun't. This is fantastic new's. We never forget what the daft twat did. And i say never. k.t.f. lad's
Yep. One of my mates who was there when it happened always admitted to me that it was literally forced on him. I never held it against him. He was a great player for us who always give us all.
