... what a shambles and some people think we have problems. The pitch is shot to pieces and unsuitable for football. It's the start of the season ffs
Absolutely embarrassing, I put this in the non SAFC games thread. They should be docked points. Going to play their cup game at Burtons stadium ffs....
I am assuming that they will face a points deduction for Sundays game being called off. They have breached league rules by failing to fulfil the fixture.
What the hell have they been doing, or not been doing? Looks a mess mind, but surely a good watering and rolling through last week would have at least made is ugly but playable. Did they just show up on Saturday morning and see they had no pitch? Get away with murder that lot. They were indulged when they had no ground, given extra time twice to sort it after falling foul of the rules. Now this. Is chinny bloody Hill still running the show?
The main problem is the owners of the stadium are Wasps rugby club (I think) and you can play rugby on that pitch so they are no really bothered.
Played rugby 7s on it for the Commonwealth games. Still a ****ing embarrassment though. Wasps play rugby there as well.
quite possible coventry want to keep playing there but are not contributing to the upkeep, if they can still play their rugby then why should they go out on a limb to help another club? ps: guesswork from me, obviously.
This, they don't own the ground. Whoever owns the ground has let it be used for rugby 7's during the commonwealth games, Coventry were told it would be repaired in time for their match it wasn't. Now it's a shambles that they don't own their own ground, by the sound of it don't even employ the staff that sort the pitch but they aren't at fault as much as it first seems. Not that I'm saying they shouldn't receive some punishement, their fault they in an agreement where the ground can be used in such a way that they then can't fulfil their fixtures!
it is still Coventry's fault though. They have assured the ELF that they have a ground to play in. They have then sub contracted that responsibility to Wasps. Coventry have failed in their own duties and should be punished by a points deduction. They can then seek redress from Wasps if they think it appropriate. Or they can get a bloody ground like every other club.
Exactly. Match-fixing scum who I would delight in seeing go bust. I never want that to happen to anyone - non even the Mags . but when cheating is concerned they can so into liquidation as far as I'm concerned.
question is how long does it go on, they play wigan at home week today.....& by state of it doubt will be ready...if it is...it will still be a shocking surface. sunday morning sides are more organised
Coventry have been a 'Gypsy' club in recent years. They have no home, and they have moved from Ground to Ground. As has been said, Wasps are the owners of the stadium that Coventry, currently, call home. Memory tells me that in recent years they have played their home games at Birmingham's St Andrews, and Northampton's Sixfields. They are on a hiding to nothing here as they have no control over the state of the pitch. Coventry City FC have done nothing wrong, (other than sign a stupid ground share agreement), but The FA are going to have to punish them anyhow. Holding The Games Sevens there was about as thoughtless a trick as can be imagined. Whoever had that bright idea must be a fan of another Midlands Team and by now they must still be laughing.
TBH mate, that's just the latest. They've regularly spent money chasing a dream and neglected the basics such as having a ground and a proper pitch ... ... they deserve to be punished.
