Beefy does a lot of promoting of video games [thank you Beef for your one man promo store, I may buy one, one day :) ] so I'm going to do a bit of my own old fashioned promoting. Finally bought The Temperence Movement's debut album. It's been out since mid September last, but I think I really ought to buy it, I like it that much. Rarely, if ever, does a new band come straight out of the box, so rocking and solid. And the lead singer, Phil Campbell needs to insure that voice for plenty. But all that is so-so stuff. What I'm really promoting is analogue playback. Yes, it's VINYL, and 2 LPs to boot. You even get two more tracks than on the other mediums, so good for them. My Sondek/Ittok/Troika's long sleep is about to end.

Anyone here have any experience of the University of Sussex?

Also, vinyl, that'll be a bitch to put on your MP3 player.

Russian mens ice hockey team have been knocked out by Finland. They won't be able to get a medal. Putin is going to be pissed. <laugh>

There are a few countries who are up there with, if not better than, Russia at ice hockey, so they can't be too shocked surely.

They were the favorites and have a few big stars in their team. The stars just haven't performed at all.

Before the games started Putin said the gold he wanted most was in the mens hockey. The way he said it basically made it sound like a demand.

At the end of the match the crowd booed and whistled.

He's probably quite a big hockey fan. Not surprised they were made favourites as they were at home, but getting knocked out by Finland is basically like Brazil getting knocked out of the World Cup by Italy, so it was always going to be tricky.

Uni's should post photos/panoramas of locations on their campus when it's overcast. Everywhere looks better when it's clear blue skies.

They should probably think twice about that.

This isn't that thing about one country still officially being at war, from WWII, is it..?

I don't think they are. I know the Korea War technically never ended, but haven't heard anything similar about WWII.

OK, cheers. It was a very vague memory that popped up. Easily confusing over which particular war and which particular countries were still officially at gunpoint.

Perhaps Japan never officially surrendered or something. At most it's one of those things that is a meaningless technicality (unlike the Koreas, who legitimately are just under a long ceasefire).

I think it was something to do with Berwick-upon-Tweed or something like that. It was on QI once, that's all I remember.
