I think the least we can hope for is that he is in some kind of state where he can rehab and go back to leading a normal life. Would hate for him to be left disabled for the rest of his life.

Being in a position to be able to consciously fight would be great. I'd imagine there will be some fairly severe consequences though. One just has to hope they can be overcome with rehabilitation, at least to some level.

The main thing is a mental recovery...easier to cope with physical problems as long as you are the same person.

Have to say that I am not fond of people talking about strength, courage and fighting serious injuries or illness. Can sometimes leave the patient feeling a failure and depressed if their recovery is slow or non-existent. Have heard of cancer patients who feel a failure for not 'beating' cancer. If only life was that simple and will power was enough.

Very much agree - my comment was more to do with the 'conscious' than the 'fight'. We shall see how things transpire, but all experts seem to believe he'll be a very different person.

If anyone has the determination to overcome any kind of handicap it will be Schuey. He didn't let much stand in his way when he was at his peak as a driver after all (cue Damon Hill jokes). I really do hope and pray he makes it.

Irony =

I went to the local shops today to buy Autocar .

Reversed into the space , bought the magazine & drove out .

Hit a plastic coated Bollard , turns out it had concrete inside , Front passengers door is completely stoved in .

Got home , was speaking to the insurance company make my claim when the post arrived .

Finished my call and then opened the mail , one letter was a Drivers Licence renewal form from the DVLA .

I kid you not !!!!!
