    He is like me, and has a speech impediment. And sometimes the bumbling along is a sort of cover up. I have a stutter which I hide by going round the bushes. Some people might class it as bumbling, but to me it’s better than start stuttering.
    It’s weird to explain, to people how difficult it is. I can feel a stutter about to start so rather than saying the word I go round it. One of my worse is W’s and my surname starts with a W so, when meeting people first time or meetings I start of sounding like I mumble to say it quickly.
    I’m lucky in work that they appreciate what I do, as with a lot of big companies now in this world presentations is a big part. So I’m sort of excused and people do them on my behalf. But it has held me back.
    Please don’t see it as a pity me post, just a bit of understanding on my part on his condition. Unless of course it’s fake news.

    Mate I share the same problem, sometimes I sound confused when having to make crucial, quick decisions or get excited, the decision has been made in my brain but the words coming out sounds like a mumble, the weird thing is I have earned my living in sales, quite successfully most of my life, I find T's and B's are my tipping points, funny old world.

    Fair play to you in sales, I tried it but found that starting the conversation difficult.

    with a speech impediment, would concur, starting would be difficult [ but there is phraseology that puts the buyer into what they believe is the driving seat ] , but I made a lot of my money/income from the 9 years prior to 1990 . there is 3 different types of sales, easiest by far is "order takers" you have a product that peeps want regularly [ mainly to shops ] and occasionally you may have to persuade them to have a bit extra or a new version/ product. …………….. major sales like over say 1 item @ over £500 to £??? m /bn long drawn out affairs [maybe harder? usually a team effort though] than the hardest " direct sales" or cold sales / one off sales ….. your shop assistant is often a sales person!

    If the press and the government are to be believed we have vaccinated over 8m people already - that's great news!
    Assuming a population of 60m (allowing for 10m babies - or people who won't have the injection for some reason), everyone who wants a vaccine should have had one by the end of July - possibly sooner.
    Maybe we WILL have a summer after all?

    It's something to hang to, out of this bloody lockdown. Daughter has already booked a lodge for all of us in Dorset during August. Doubt very much we'll be allowed our usual holiday abroad this year.
    Ps, great news she's having her jab this week.

    little bit off the mark BCRW .. it is about 44 million
    Qualifying … 54 million [ all rough rounded figures ]
    DONE NOW === down to 46 million
    will not bother ===== 5% …. = 43 million
    ------------------======15% … 40 million
    -----------------======25% … 35 million
    there is approx. 13 million under 16's
    17 to 64 year olds about 42m
    and 13 m pensioners

    last ONS was pop UK was <67 million... so a little over half what you expect? <ok> are first to be done.. then Kids???

    That's good news about your daughter's vaccine RP - and fingers crossed for your Dorset holiday
    JGF - My figures were based on an estimated population of 70m - minus 10m for the youngsters/antivaxxers.

    Not sure when mine is - not for a while, but seeing as I've already had - and recovered from - the virus, I'd be happy to allow someone who hasn't had Covid behind me in the queue to have mine, as they would be more vulnerable.

    Same for me. It was pretty unpleasant so I'd be happy to help someone else avoid it!

    I just put up a breakdown about 54 million qualify above 16 years old …..
    the thing is we now have to start allowing for the second jabbers, by end of February that will start, should the 12 week gap be stuck to, so about 500k a week on top of the ones getting first jab!
    OUR SURGERY DID AROUND 1200 last week, closed at present .. but covers mostly Stockwood and parts of surrounding areas Whitchurch/Knowle /Brislington/ Pensford [father in law is from Brislington village]

    never felt mine.... i have been covered in nettle s pricked by thorny plants jumped off cliffs [ on a rope ] swam through water filled tunnels with out fear or favour .. injection … I usually say " I cant bear the injection, I will go all tense, bear with me till I relax! then go into tense mode relax and needle goes in!.... Friday it was done before I could speak didn't feel a thing ...well just something touch me … and saw an empty needle!
    Very chivalerous ! but don't think they will pick and choose … just send out bulk text from your surgery list … probably got a time limit for replying … then a letter …

    My 2 brothers are getting their first jab today in Taunton and they are 7 and 8 years younger than me. Here in Canada I don't realistically see me getting my shot until early summer at least because the federal government are faffing around with different scenarios each day and changing the priority list almost on an hourly basis. In 4 weeks I will turn 77 and at the start of the vaccine priority list I was supposedly right behind the obvious candidates for early vaccination but now they have changed the rules and the jabs that I might have got have vanished through supply problems or been redirected to remote communities in the far north. Now the federal lot have decided to give shots to the street drug addicts because they are at risk and it's starting to look like the problems with supply could get worse. Distance and a two tier political system has led to the entire roll out of what vaccines we have becoming a joke. Well done Boris in your vaccine policy and implementation.

    That’s the figure that we’ve got start publishing.
    If they keep publishing the 8 million then the mongs will think it’s safe to go out and **** it up for everyone again. As much as I would love schools to reopen for all the kids and go for a pint, sit in the ground the government need to phase this lockdown out better than the last one.
    Handjob has already indicated we can have holidays this year but would likely have to be in this country. But there will be people saying we’ve been jabbed so we can surely go abroad now without a care on who they infect when they return from countries far behind us on vaccination.
    I would like to know how this South African strain is now gathering pace in Surrey.

    I was discussing this earlier, it is midlands and above areas "but peeps say not travelled and not been in contact [knowingly] " more like infected have penetrated these northern areas, not quarantined, had it not said nothing, not done the recognised protocols and infected others ..
    I am beginning to lose patience [ my friends know the length my patience can go to a long way ] .. the illegals in the camp think we should give them nice little houses now, and started burning the barracks they are living in, a rave was stopped on the weekend before it started and a few hundred peeps paid .. bet there is no refund … YIPEEEEEEEEE ! wonder whether police has a list of those paid! … EU totally screwed up over vaccine .. spoke to fellow walker [had his jab last Friday also ] was a remainer.. … is now at peace we left, a week ago he wasn't, suddenly realised what a load of tossers and bullshitttttters they are ….. said no way can you in hindsight trust them now …..
