and it all has it's ecological & resource cost, which everyone who spouts those 'we can feed billions more' like to ignore, the same as the vegans ignore that the amazon will still get ****ed by farming even if everyone stopped eating meat, and battery car fans like to ignore the rare earth materials needed to make them, despite them being called 'rare-earth'.for a reason.
All very well worrying about a forest if one lives in a welfare state and has all the benefits of services like the NHS and transport, water, leccy edu and so on.
When you are left with farming or starving to death, well, you're gonna clear some land and farm because there is literally nothing else you can do.
Not saying this makes it OK, and the pasture is the by far main reason for deforestation, but to tackle that, just like with certain places hunting whales, they need another option to survive, and I don't see the eco NGOs with their combined donated billions doing anything in that regard
