Clever people on the telly keep saying that we have to try and minimise social interaction so I’ve decided not to send the kids to school til next term. We’re not supposed to eat in restaurants but kids going to school is somehow ok? The clincher was my son’s best mate telling us his mum has had a positive test result.

Also, he’s always said it was a pandemic apparently, does that include when he was calling it a Democrat hoax? Asking for a Nation.

Keeping kids at school means no gap (or less of a gap) in their education, continuation of breakfast clubs and free school meals for those who need them and the ability for parents to continue working provided they are in jobs where they can and less chance of grandparents having to get involved with child care. It makes complete sense why they aren’t closing schools yet, though inevitably at some point I’m sure they’ll have to.

Good for you that you’re in a position where you can take kids out of school without having to deal with those issues but for a lot of people and society as a whole there’s plenty of reasons to keep schools open while we can.

Not sure how I’d react in the same situation if it was my own kid and there was a confirmed case at the school though, probably the same as you!

He takes opposite stances on basically everything at some point based on what he thinks makes him look best. It’s ridiculous how often it happens! It’s mental that he’s the president and that he may even become a two term president!

I remember a time when a senior politician telling demonstrable lies actually had a consequence.

Allowing proven liars to pollute public discourse without continual challenge has consequences.

Trump has trashed truth, it no longer seems to matter. What a time to be alive.

Whilst we’ve got national advice that says we shouldn’t go to the pub, but that it’s sound for people to take their kids to school, I can completely understand the confusion amongst parents.

I also understand the reasons why keeping them open has benefits, not least the fact that circa 40% of NHS and care workers have children of school age, and closing them would cause further pressure on the already stretched resources. However, there is a solution to this, and that’s to do what other countries have done, and closed schools whilst making provision for the daycare of essential workers.

Maybe she’s just pregnant.

I think that’s a good solution once we hit the point where everyone is full on isolating. But currently there’s also a lot of other people who aren’t key workers who will find themselves unable to work if they have to look after the kids during the day.

I know I've got staff who will really struggle when the schools close as they will have to stop working to look after the kids and that’ll push them over the edge financially.

I think it’s important we push that time back as far as we sensibly can.

I stopped giving blood when they changed the system to appointments only and not just turn up. I was cancelled 3 times in a row, so fuk um

The regime got infected with a serious dose of management consultant-itus.
For starters, those poxy tilting chairs that obviously occupy far more space
than the old std folding benches (anyone got stats on the increased bleed/
recovery efficacy for those chairs ?? ) .

It reduced capacity in one donor centre, so much that I was unable to fully
contribute to a donor study on the effects of decreased donation intervals.

The other thing is you are denied direct phone access to on the day sessions.
So the centralised call centres cannot tell you if no-shows mean that slots
are actually available at a session.

That aside, still donate.
Just book a slot well in advance, and cancel/change as the date gets nearer.
Better to have you for the few times when everything aligns. than never.
