About as cynical as you can get in politics. Tells you all you need to know about what they think of the deprived and vulnerable.

Also bear in mind Liz Truss wanted to 'advance' the levelling up programme by syphoning off £8.8bn from northern areas though real term pay cuts on workers <doh>

The pair of them represent the lowest of the low that politics has to offer in this country and particularly in the Tory party. Inept, corrupt, self-serving scum without a conscience or any moral or ethical principles, whoring themselves out to the highest bidder.

Truss will be popular with the covid hoax mob

If one million customers cancel their direct debits on 1st October as planned, the energy companies will be forced to take notice, and hopefully reduce the cost for everybody.

As it happens I can afford to pay even if my bill shoots up again, but I am prepared to take a stand for the millions who can't. The ****s at EDF won't get a penny out of me until they put people before profit. That's called solidarity, you may remember the word.
From what I can see the energy suppliers are already struggling (several went under in 2021) so can't see how you are going to get them to reduce their costs when they are having to pay the current high gas tariffs from the energy producers. As Europe is crying out for other sources of gas at the moment the producers can just sell their LNG shipments there if they want.

I am amazed though that, as BRB has said, Labour aren't using this as an opportunity to say "If we get in we will re-nationalise the energy supply industry in the UK" or maybe they are but I haven't heard anything about it. That makes so much sense for a number of reasons:

1) they can get a lot better deal off the energy suppliers by effectively buying gas for the whole of the UK
2) you don't have 30 private providers, all trying to make a profit, so forcing up the price to the consumers
3) the government doesn't have to go through the ridiculous process of paying money to each household. They just keep prices constant, making money for the country when world gas prices are low and subsidising it when they are high

All this talk about windfall taxes is just short termism. Do it properly. Its a strategic industry - its should be under government control.

Once that was sorted I would do water, the trains and the buses as well.

US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been ordered to pay $49.3m (£41m) in damages after falsely claiming a 2012 school shooting was a hoax.

A jury in Texas ruled the radio host must pay $45.2m in punitive damages, in addition to $4.1m in compensatory damages they awarded a day earlier.

This is what the conspiracy theorists deserve. Spreading false information can be damaging.
Should have said he was a Dr, not a medical one like. Just someone with a PhD to make wild covid claims.

Think he may be trying to get some of it back from his legal team. Apparently one of them sent two years of his text messages to opposing counsel, when they were meant to send them to the US Government for the Capitol Storming Investigation.

Apparently @aberdude is thinking of suing you for spreading these rumours about COVID being a killer disease. You need to start saving up.

Fireman called out to a house fire. His son, daughter and grandchildren were in there and he couldn't get in to save them :emoticon-0106-cryin

Three children and seven adults have died in a house fire in the US state of Pennsylvania, and a firefighter called to the scene was horrified to find the victims were his own family.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the names of six of the victims, but have yet to identify the youngest children, ages five, six and seven.

A criminal investigation has been launched into the fire's cause.
