It will bounce back for the Conservatives, they're still seen as more competent on the economy, international politics and immigration.

Once all this dies down, which in most peoples minds it already has, the Brexit chat will start again and Starmer will **** it all up.

Unfortunately for the Tories, Starmer will likely have reduced Bojob to a gibbering mess during PM question times by then.

Not that we are supposed to be talking brexit here. Not sure how any party other than the government will have any say.

I'm just using the same polling that is lorded when Labour close the gap slightly, generally in those areas the Tories have came out looking strong around every election. Its a huge hurdle that Labour need to get over.

Especially immigration, I fundementally don't agree with whatever strategist in the party advised that the word should not even be mentioned. Its easily Labours weakest area.

I presume Starmers efforts to turn Boris into a "blabbering mess" over these coming years will involve him discussing the Torys handling of leaving the EU.

He's a staunch Europhile, Labours base is evidently not.

Starmer would likely destroy Bojob in all subject matters ... with the possible exception of the nuances of taking a hot crumpet from behind at the Old Etonian fag initiation ceremony <laugh>

I'm not sure this polarised view is still relevant. Brexit has happened, what is now on the table is the trade agreement.

Starmer doesn't really need to do very much other than highlight deficiencies and failings.

But everything he says can simply be dismissed as the whining of a remainer. That's Starmers issue.

I think he'll do OK, he's a boring centrist so I doubt he can overturn the majority but an economic collapse might happen. Then he'll be given a free pass to number 10.

In which case we agree that no other party will influence brexit at this time. The Tories own it.

I'm also not convinced Starmer is as centrist as many assume, although he looks the part.

Not sure any recent election has overturned a majority of 80 and it will be even harder once the seats are dropped to 600. So we agree that it takes a monumental screw up for the Tories to lose power, although so far the evidence is they are up to this task.

The only one the Tories have, unfortunately ... but also the prime reason for voters turning away from them ... hope he stays for the long term and, at the very least, until the next election... just imagine the piss taking <laugh>

Well Stan said after the Brexit vote that the Conservatives wouldn’t get in for a generation. Labour need to bin off all the hard left fruitcakes or they might as well fold that party. The working class up here have nothing in common with that scummy lot anymore.
