Macron admits vaccine rollout mistakes

French President Emmanuel Macron has admitted European leaders have been too timid as he looked on enviously at the UK and US vaccine rollouts.
"We didn't shoot for the stars. That should be a lesson for all of us. We were wrong to lack ambition, to lack the madness, I would say, to say: It's possible, let's do it," he told Greek television channel ERT.
The UK has administered nearly 46 vaccines for every 100 people, whereas the EU is on 13.8 shots per 100 people, according to public data compiled by Our World In Data website.

Don't moan about it, get on with it and stop acting like muppets.

..................As far as I can tell. Yet again a long drone, apologies.

No need. It puts the flesh on the bones of what little the rest of us do know but can work out if we stop to think about it for just one moment. The risks are just too high for anyone to cut corners. No doubt the anti-vaxxers and the Butt Hubers of this world would not be convinced and would accuse you of having a closed mind and possibly deluded because you won't even entertain the possibility that you, I and the millions of scientists around the world have been duped. I'm waiting for one to raise head above parapet and tell me that it's what we do not know' aka THE TRUTH that is being kept from us. What I'd love to know is how they, the privileged few, got to find it out

Test and Trace sneakily sacking clinical staff on grounds of ‘poor attendance’ on an impossible to access computer system in favour of unskilled call centre staff to call you up.
Oh God. So that's another dubious mobile telephone number which leaves a message for me which I will ignore or report to the action fraud line if I ever get tracked or traced. Has anybody had it? Is it painful? And do I need to listen to 15 minutes of waffle telling me all the disclaimers, risks, websites I can look at before I give my consent to be told that the newsagent I visited 8 weeks ago tested positive 2 weeks ago so quarantine for the next two weeks. Or don't if it's a Tuesday or a full moon that night.

If there is an inquiry the government should get that independent bloke Hamilton to run it.
Is that because he is independent in which case I doubt Boris will want him. Or you don't think he was independent in which case doesn't he need to be signed up by one of the companies like Serco or G4S before he will even be considered

No I think Boris would want him because he will know his answer in advance...a bit like seaweed.

AstraZeneca Wouldn’t Make Vaccines At Cost Again After EU Row

After enduring months of baseless criticism and browbeating from the EU, AstraZeneca now reportedly regret selling their vaccine at cost price as a result of the reputational damage inflicted by European leaders, and wouldn’t replicate the strategy if another pandemic hits. What a surprise…

Speaking on the Today Programme, BBC medical editor Fergus Walsh claimed that multiple senior sources inside AstraZeneca said that in future, the company was unlikely to forego the profits enjoyed by the likes of Pfizer (set to make billions from its $19.50 jab, compared to the $4 tag for AstraZeneca’s) now that the European Commission has smeared the vaccine with claims of blood clotting and low efficacy. Not to mention threatening export controls, and blaming AstraZeneca for their shortfall in vaccine supply…

So you need to have a jab to have a pint yet the poor 20 something bar person doesn’t get one?

All done. Got my AZ jab today. I must say well done to the NHS and staff. what a well run machine. I even got a sticker!
Just a general question Ellers - is it normal that people are tested directly prior to getting the vaccine ? I ask this out of pure interest because my feeling is that it must be established whether a person has Covid or not at the time of innoculation.

Sorry fella I am not with you on this.
I went in and was asked 10 questions and if I had covid? Personally I have not been tested prior and I am not sure if it matters. Its probably best to ask one of the others who may know.
