Not sure why the ‘roadmap’ has to be “irreversible”. Kind of contradicts the whole “data not dates”, “following the science” mantras. Why back yourself into that corner?
They’ve got plenty of caveats about transmission rates, pressure on hospitals, new variants etc which makes ‘irreversible’ a strangely relative concept in this context. Meanwhile us plebs are so used to U turns that we won’t notice or be surprised, and certainly won’t exact punishment, if it comes to that, and there is a chance that Desmond Swayne and his ilk will shut up for a bit.Not sure why the ‘roadmap’ has to be “irreversible”. They're trying to square a circle, so they'll never be right whatever they do.
If we follow the scientists advice we'll be in perpetual lockdown for years until the virus is completely erradicated.
Can't most kids get basic schooling from the nett in the UK for a while, especially if they have a bit of help from parents, grandparents, or whoever looks after them at home? I know of some adult family who have been well knackered doing just this for periods when schools closed, but classes went on the nett.
So the lifting of restrictions will allow Euro2020 to go ahead.
(oh and there will be spectators at the championship playoffs...obviously not of any interest to us though)

I think the data coming out is very good. I have seen the word 'Spectacular' used today. After the first jab people needing hospital or sadly dying from Covid has fallen drastically.... So I think this time they maybe okay.Your words not mine. It would be unimaginably stupid to want the government to fail.
All I'll say is they are making exactly the same sounds as last time and look where that ended.
The Vaccination progress has been brilliant I just hope they aren't jeopardising that progress. I don't know how close to the knife edge we are with regards to new variants and mutations that can outrun the vaccines but we should be reducing that risk element as much as possible.
So in the first few days after returning to school teenagers will be tested for the virus 3 times at school and once at home, and then twice a week at home, and promise to report the results accurately. None of the tests will be administered by a healthcare professional, or analysed at a professional lab.
I think it’s good to open up the schools, but why bother with this pointless ****?
Remind me of the positive news, do you mean the Scottish study on the vaccines? Yep good, and at least Whitty concluded his perky walk through of the ‘data’ that everyone needs a second dose.Anything to say about all the positive news we're currently getting?

Everything else is hyper normal.
Must be different up here. My nieces are both in classes of 30, nephews the same. One whole school year was off last time they were open as the cases were in stupid numbers.I can only speak for my kids school mate, but they aren’t mixed together with all the others.
They stuck to their ‘bubbles’ of about 5-6 kids and even have break time and lunch separately.
There have been a few times that one kid out of another ‘bubble’ has been positive and only those kids have needed to isolate.
It seems to work
Suppose its horses for courses mate. My lad has absolutely excelled since being taken out of school. We have private tutors and his learning has been outstanding. With respect you are obviously someone who hasn’t got kids of school age....especially those with SEN.
My 2 boys were doing really well, adjusting to a new school and settling in....even catching up and improving their grades.
Sadly they’ve taken a step back in the last few months.
