It’s a direct quote so the source is really not relevant. You’re clearly desperate to talk about politics so stop being a tart and post on the politics thread.
Nothing to do with the politics thread. By the way I have always said these two threads intertwine. You only want me back on the other thread because it's a ghost town.

It’ll be a shame for you to miss the Brexit New Year’s Eve celebration I’m planning with Goldie and Col.
mmm I have a few reservations about celebrating. Although I may pop into the party for a virtual glass of French wine.

The vaccine news sounds exciting.
It does.
I'm no expert on this sort of stuff but I hope if I am going to have one, It will be the Oxford one. Saying all that, if it gets passed by our boys then I probably won't have a problem.

Yeah. Good news, though I’m slightly bemused as to how the MHRA could be the fastest drugs regulator in the world given that until, err, now, it hasn’t done much drugs regulation/licensing/approval, that has been done by the European Medicines Agency on our behalf, which was based in London (now Amsterdam), and that this vaccine is a first in class with brand new technology, very difficult to assess. I wonder if the regulatory talent that was based in London has stayed and joined the MHRA. Hopefully the EMA and FDA will follow suit in approving soon.

I’m probably missing something in this, I haven’t kept pace with the MHRA and what it does.

Just bumped into my GP mate while walking the dog. While people round here are moaning about being in tier 3 when our rate per 100k is only 105 (still above the national average I think) she told me that the local hospitals are packed out with COVID cases. I’m sure that the tiering is based on NHS capacity which is fair enough, I just wish they would stop using misleading stuff like testing based population rates.

I'd find it really comforting if Boris, the rest of the Cabinet and their respective families have the vaccine first
Interesting that the EU are taking more time over accepting this vaccine. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing? However, I agree, let all the MP's take it first. For my age group I doubt if I will get it for a bit so I won't be the guinea pig.

That might put people off.......:emoticon-0103-cool:

However, peoples spokesman Piers Morgan did say this morning that himself, Susannah Reid, Dr Hillary and Matt Hancock should have it all done live on GMB as that would send a powerful message that it's safe and the right thing to do.......yay!!!!

Does various Tory sex cases tweeting near-identical fake news about this being due to Brexit count as playing politics?

In fairness, the MHRA historically contributed to the EMA more than almost any other regulator, looking at how often they were rapporteur for a centralised procedure or how often they acted as scientific advice co-ordinator. They've done a fantastic job in approving COVID trials comparatively too. Definitely struggled / struggling on a staffing front, but there was a lot of political pressure to get these approved ASAP.

Well it is a fact. If we had stayed in the EU we would be still having a 1000 meetings and millions of paperwork staples to count. I watched Euronews today and apparently many are unhappy that they have to wait... As I said I don't know what is best.

No, it isn’t. It’s really that simple.
