On top of that though there are so many people who just aren’t limiting their social interaction much if at all. While pubs are open (are they still open?) people will be boozing.

Just been out on a fruitless mission to buy eggs (just the half a dozen!) and had a look in a few boozers. Open, and very quiet, unlike last night when they were busy. Could be the rain, but hopefully the message is getting through.

While I remain unfazed (on a personal level) by the virus, I get the strategy and am more than happy to try to avoid getting it in order to avoid inadvertently passing it on to someone who might end up in hospital. I was livid with a mate last night who texted me from a pub which he said was rammed on a 2 for 1 pizza night. He was out celebrating getting the all clear from his cardiologist after a heart attack six months ago. He’s one of my best mates but a complete ****wit for his own health and a selfish ****wit for others, and I told him so.

Currently on a train from Aberdeen to London to attend my follow up appointment at Moorfields Eye Hospital following my retinal detachment surgery just over 2 weeks ago and it is pretty quiet (at least in 1st )

Travelling back to Aberdeen on Sunday (I hope!) and have just been told that LNER are ceasing on board catering from tomorrow

Probably explains why I've had 3 meals on the train so far

I had that done mate. Moorfields were outstanding. I had a bloke called Muquit do it all. Great bloke. You'll be in good hands there.

A friend works as Easy jet cabin crew and is very fearful of job cuts

Strangely I had two calls yesterday about new roles when I finish my current one at the end of April

Can't see anything other than a serious recession ahead - looks like my plans to keep with working 6 months a year have unravelled

It's almost like, apart from the empty shelves, nothing out of the ordinary is happening here.

I was told tonight that the local train company had donated a lot of food that was gonna go to waste to the local food bank. Fair play to them

it is a strange situation. I am looking after my elderly parents and staying with them at the moment - they are in the trooublesome over 80 age bracket where they cold cause trouble.....not.
So shopping, over weekend pointless.
Supermarket near to where they live - Monday am a box of tissues and a couple of apples plus milk, and a loaf of bread - in the evening pasta sauce and spagetti. I go past a Morrsions, Tesco, Aldi and Sainburys - tonight was successful as I finally managed to get bread, a few dinners for them toilet roll .
I have never seen anything like this. In the morning, the young shelf fillers were stocking up fruit and there were customers around them waiting to pounce.....it was like watching a rugby game!!
Everyone needs to chill out as there is enough to go round...just don't panic buy. According to what I have heard (and not sure in the truth of this) some of the medics in China no longer wearing masks and Japan may have found a cure....
I don't think anyone could have predicted just how quick this has grown - or spread.
I do feel sorry for Boris (and I will probably get crap for this) but he - or whoever had won the last election would have had a very challenging first few months.
We will get through this. Hopefully everyone one here and their friends and family will come through unscathed....it's just I think things will get worse before they get better.

Can't remember the name of the surgeon but he told me that another 48 hours and I'd likely be permanently blind in my left eye. Very lucky that I was concerned enough to go to the opticians on the Sunday (operation was on the Monday evening) rather than flying back to Aberdeen as normal

The NHS isn't perfect but that was outstanding care

My son works at a Sainsbury's in Liverpool and staff are bring sworn at just because some shelves are empty
I think retailers have done what they can in the face of unbelievable idiocy from many members of the public who think only they matter

I went to see him at Croydon in the morning and he told me we needed to do it that afternoon so he operated that afternoon.

At a guess I would say it was 85% empty. Not good guys and I reckon after the school closure announcement panic buy 2 kicked in. I can only see this becoming a nightmare.... especially after the manager said they were cutting down on brands and only having basics. It reminds me of a disaster movie. I may need to buy a gun and a bow and arrow like in that ‘Hungry Games’ film.

I just went shopping to get a couple of bits for me and mate (who is ill) and partners dad only to find the shop looking like something out of Poland in the 80s. At a guess I would say it was 85% empty. Not good guys and I reckon after the school closure announcement panic buy 2 kicked in. I can only see this becoming a nightmare.... especially after the manager said they were cutting down on brands and only having basics. It reminds me of a disaster movie. I may need to buy a gun and a bow and arrow like in that ‘Hungry Games’ film.

I'm sorted - new McDs opening near me so that's 3 meals a day sorted

And plenty of toilet paper for when I need a mammoth Big Mac induced ****

The stuff is in the supply chain but it will take time. I expect the same people are panicking daily and now sitting on 200 bog rolls and half the tuna in the Atlantic.

The organisation and strategy of the retailers has been remarkable.

My Brother was a baggage handler for Norwegian at Gatwick, got a call yesterday telling him they have all been made redundant as of this Saturday,90% of there flights are to the US.
