A worrying indictment on the stupidity of some sections of society.

There are more cases in the Greater Glasgow area than the rest of Scotland combined. Over the last two weeks positive Covid tests have rocketed in this ares, and the majority of these cases have links to Blackpool.

Now, without with pointing fingers it doesn't take Einstein to figure out that this coincides with the Old Firm being played behind closed doors and pubs being shut in Scotland. Express requests by the government and Blackpool council didn't stop thousands of Rangers and Celtic fans descend on Blackpool to watch the game in pubs - all socially distanced of course.

What chance do we have of stopping this spread? Morons

Drinking down the pub is the most important thing during a pandemic obviously. <doh>

Furlough extended til March which doesn’t bode particularly well but a rare compliment from me for this government of corrupt spivs and careerists for making a good decision.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill, you can always rely on Rishi Sunak to do the right thing - once he's exhausted all the other options.

Sort of begs the question why they decided it was completely unthinkable to pay for a properly costed furlough in Manchester but when they’re such ****ing woeful people almost all the time on everything it’s a minor victory of sorts.

Presumably the people who fell through the cracks before will still do so but this has to be a good thing. Or at least not a bad thing. It’s definitely a thing.

It's the right thing, but not for everybody and later than it should have been. People will have lost their jobs waiting for this announcement.

Thanks Oxford vaccine researchers and Astra Zeneca for following the government’s lead in wildly over promising what you can deliver. The Oxford people said it would be through trials and potentially available by September. Now, anyone who knows anything about this stuff knows that was horse ****, but they still said it. As yet, no definite dates for results, let alone regulatory approval. Astra Zeneca boldly decided to manufacture the vaccine before it was proved effective, so loads of people could get it really quickly. 30 million doses would be available! In fact there will only be 4 million doses ready before Christmas. The other vaccine, made by Pfizer, is further ahead, but needs to be stored at -70C which will be challenging for the supply chain and impossible for most GP surgeries if they are expected to inject people.

Without taking action, the NHS would risk being overwhelmed

This would mean we could no longer guarantee that our NHS will be there for you when you need it

We must not let that promise be brokenhttps://express.co.uk/news/uk/1356348/coronavirus-second-lockdown-nhs-collapse-britain…

So after the fiasco with getting an appointment with the Cardiology department, Mrs SM saw the consultant today. They carried out a full assessment, including treadmill, ECG and Echo - and didn't appear rushed off their feet - surprising seeing as they weren't giving out appointments.....

Things are slowly improving with Mrs SM. Hopefully she's getting towards the end of this ****.
