I am afraid, this is true as for various reasons the tests are not working as well as they could.
I think this is a verification issue, which is a dreadful state to be in, when we are at least 4.5 months into the pandemic and South Korea had a virus test kit working and effective in January. It is unclear if this is an issue with the kit itself or with the people who are doing the tests; centralised laboratories and not the in-hospital virology labs that normally do hospital viral tests. So I believe the results of tests are being verified in USA, as Boris has said we have a capacity to more tests than we are doing
In other news, the Sunday Times has run a feature on the CoVid19 app that is being run by Kings that Stan and I are using (and I hope others of you are too). It has generated a lot of information about the symptoms that preceed the real onset of disease. Including headaches, muscle pain as well as fever and cough, but the main symptom is extreme tiredness which apparently appears in nearly all patients. Interesting to know.
Another interesting thing is that this app is now tracking oestrogen levels, as there is increasing evidence that higher levels of oestrogen are protective. Sorry lads!
( I do not think it will become government policy to be asking you all to take the contraceptive pill as a prophylatic!!!)

We manipulated the figures to show that we had at least sent out 100,000 plus tests. That's what this government have tried to do regarding all stats from the beginning. Some people see it, some people see it and choose to ignore it and some people are just too simple to see it.

geners) that may contribute to the beverages physiological effects. Plants used to produce
alcoholic beverages contain estrogenlike substances (i.e., phytoestrogens). Observations that
men with alcoholic cirrhosis often show testicular failure and symptoms of feminization have
suggested that alcoholic beverages may contain biologically active phytoestrogens as con-
geners. Biochemical analyses have identified several phytoestrogens in the congeners of
bourbon, beer, and wine. Studies using subjects who produced no estrogen themselves (i.e.,
rats whose ovaries had been removed and postmenopausal women) demonstrated that phyto-
estrogens in alcoholic beverage congeners exerted estrogenlike effects in both animals and
humans. Those effects were observed even at moderate drinking levels.
It is even more effective in women (obviously).
Alcohol can change the way a woman's body metabolizes estrogen (how estrogen works in the body). This can cause blood estrogen levels to rise. Estrogen levels are higher in women who drink alcohol than in non-drinkers . These higher estrogen levels may in turn, increase the risk of breast cancer (so not all good news)

Not great figures but, in context, not the worst. Anything else at present is speculation...
The scary thing is that these five countries are way ahead of the rest - US 242, Sweden 319, Germany 90. I think, given the numbers and the fact that we are about 15 days behind Italy and Spain, we are likely to catch up with them. Belgium records all deaths suspected of COVID involvement as COVID deaths, even if there has been no test. I don’t think any of the others do, positive test needed.
