Tbf he's following the advice of his medical officers who I'd assume know more than him or any of us on here for that matter.
The same medical experts would advise whichever Government was in power. The only difference is we'd have ******ed lefties like Diane Abbott and Rebecca Wrong Daily thinking they know better than the chief scientists.
The medical 'experts' on here are
but the ones advising the Government are the only ones that matter and they're in agreement with each other.If the Government listens and acts on the advice given to them by their medical experts some people will say they're wrong to do so (even though said people aren't nearly as qualified to comment)
If they ignore the advice people would say they're wrong to do that too.

Yes but our medical officer, seems to be saying different to every other medical officer, and if it's the same guy who allowed all from Italy to fly the virus in unchecked, he needs to be sacked, big fook up.
That's as may be but he is supposed to be the expert. The Government are hardly likely to say "we're not going by your advice, instead we're going to listen to the advice of the Chief Medical Officers of Italy, Spain, Germany, France etc."
That would be wrong - especially if his approach turns out to be right

It's all part of building up a herd immunity, but if they turn out to be wrong I'm sure the chief medical officer Chris Whitty and the UK’s chief scientist Sir Patrick Vallance will bow to your superior knowledge Chesh

You need to listen to the government, they don't subscribe to the herd immunity crap, let everyone get it and that's it. They won't admit to it but it's obvious that's what they're aiming for. Get the young and healthy to take the hit and build up immunity whilst accepting there'll be some collateral damage amongst the old and vulnerable.
If they do that, it will overwhelm the hospitals within weeks and many thousands will be left to die, you would never see a Tory government again if they did that.
What they are trying to do is find a happy medium, where we get a few hundred new cases a day and a few hundred recover every day.
They're aiming to do it gradually to level out the peak, drag it out to the summer months so the NHS are more able to cope. And by then more and more relatively healthy people would have contracted the virus, building up immunity.
Whether this approach will be successful or not only time will tell.
