I hope the other supermarkets take note seems a good idea to me I won’t buy more than I need onest injunNice touch from our local Iceland store, we have a large out of town one and a smaller one in the town centre. On Wednesday morning 9.00 -11.00 after the shelves have been restocked , they are opening the town centre one to over 65's only, enabling them to shop in peace, without the hussle and bussle most stores have seen around here since Friday, it's honestly been worse than Christmas.
Unpaid stay at home? See the Virgin airways model and see if it can be applied or half pay for 4 weeks? You can't just lay them off, redundancy is the only option

Just looked it up on the HMRC site and also Citizens advice, we can't lay anyone off without pay unless it is in their contract (which it isn't). We can lay them off with full pay which defeats the object..... Reading that companies like Virgin can just ask staff to take 8 weeks is infuriating. I guess they're saying take the 8 weeks off or you won't have a job to come back to. Might try that approach and see where it gets us.
Worrying times for all and I told you there was no time to plan for it although I did expect another 3-4 weeks
Daughter-In-Law told us she was pregnant at the weekend, I've just messaged her asking where she is and has she seen the news, she said no she doesn't watch or listen to any of it as it is too depressing. There are going to be a lot of shocked people tonight getting home from work and finding out what is going on.
Will do but looking on their website just now:Speak to ACAS mate, they told us something completely different on Friday when we called them.

Lay-offs and short-time working
In some situations, an employer might need to close down their business for a short time. Unless it says in the contract or is agreed otherwise, they still need to pay their employees for this time.
If the worse comes to the worst, I may have to use my old socks for something elseLol just read the sewage system is in danger of blocking up if people substitute other things because they have no toilet roll. As if I would flush the cat.![]()

YThat's as may be but he is supposed to be the expert. The Government are hardly likely to say "we're not going by your advice, instead we're going to listen to the advice of the Chief Medical Officers of Italy, Spain, Germany, France etc."
That would be wrong - especially if his approach turns out to be right![]()
