Connor Wickham

An interesting shout. Not sure how he has been fitting onto Di Canio's set-up and thoughts. Clearly talented youngster who can score goals. Would need to be a season loan, with option to buy, if we were to get value for the deal.

How many has he scored since he left Ipswich?

Would definitely be worth a punt - might just get his goal scoring confidence back in the Championship.

CONNOR WICKHAM is set to be sold by Sunderland after failing to impress his new boss.
The Black Cats forked out £8million to prise the one-time whizkid from Ipswich two years ago.

Tottenham to pip Arsenal to land 15m-rated Connor Wickham

A couple of years later his stock has really fallen from those heady Doncaster hat-trick days

"Tottenham will fight off London rivals Arsenal to sign Ipswich boy wonder Connor Wickham in the summer. Wickham, who will be 18 next month, is one of the country's most sought-after youngsters. His value has soared to ?15million following his first senior hat-trick in the Tractor Boys' 6-0 demolition of Doncaster on Tuesday. Hot property: Connor Wickham celebrates after his third goal against Doncaster."

I think he has great potential - some are writing him off already just because he's been unable to establish himself fully in a PL team, but he's only 20 for goodness sake. Worth a season loan deal.

actually, I'm changing my mind, worth a punt might just come good. He's a big lad, is he an out and out CF?

Cost about £10m as a teenager but has done sod all. Can be considered a total bust.

Confidence is everything with a young player, especially a goal scorer (even Torres, Carroll etc.) - under McLaren's supportive coaching, perhaps he can return to those Doncaster hat-trick days in the Championship, just a couple of years ago - at 17 he moved too soon to the Premier League.

Can't be worse than other forwards we gave a punt - Hulse, Bothroyd, DJ (injured again for 2 months I see).
