Did Lallana not play a similar amount of games for Brighton the season before coming back here and then never playing. Love Ori of course, but he’s a lot older than he was when he left us. Not expecting too much from him beyond hopefully driving the standards of what it means to be a professional and leading from example when on the pitch.

I'm expecting nothing from him other than to show those mercenary ****s masquerading as footballers, what playing for Southampton FC actually means.

First of all, he wouldn't have started 22 games. Second of all, Lallana was 36 I think when he joined us - 2 years older. I'm not saying Romeu's going to play 90 minutes every Saturday but he's far less injury prone than Lallana.

Nah Lallana played much less. I remember pointing it out alongside his comments that he thought he played too much football.

I can't tell you how happy I am about this.

Is he going to be a shadow of his former self? Have his legs gone? Will he only play a bit part role?
I couldn't give a tuppenny bit. He can sashay around the touchline while wearing a red velvet smoking jacket, blowing smoke rings at the Northam for all I care. That would be enough for me.

What I do know is he made 28 appearances for Barcelona the season before last.
And that my wife's going to suggest we get our season tickets back. She once said to me "I love Oriol more than you do". She didn't actually finish the sentence with "do" but I know what she meant.

What's Yoshida doing these days?

Playing for LA Galaxy...

Well that's not 100% accurate. Ori is a free agent after his contract was mutually terminated back in August.

Ssshhhh.

He strode in to the Barca managers office, gripped him up around the throat and said "My club needs me" The manager was too scared to do anything other than tear Rommy's contract up there and then whilst simultaneously booking him an easy jet flight straight into Southampton airport. Rumour has it the manager even paid for the extra baggage allowance from his own pocket.

That's the truth and we'll hear nothing more of it

I knew that but this is not a time for 100% accuracy. Poetic licence makes dumping Barca sound better than "free transfer" or worse "he was without a club".
I'm enjoying the moment because it will only last until Wednesday.
