Taff - I don't see Ledley as the type of player who could replace Tomlin. More of a midfield stopper like Gunnar than creative. As far as Gonzo goes I think he's had an off from Miss Piggy.
More as extra cover, if we need it, rather than a replacement. Midfielders seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Who's Gonzo?
Congratulations guys!!! Apart from Aber's music thread this is our most active thread since..................................................................................... Last summer's transfer window thread!!!
Now he was a good player but so injury prone. Still only 25 and we got the best out of him in terms of matches per season. Only made 173 league starts in 10 seasons and we got 57 of those in 2 seasons plus a £6m fee although probably had to pay some sell on money to Birmingham.
Noone to bolton - Cardiff city forum saying bolton can only loan players for a max of 6 months plus can only pay a maximum of £4.5k per week. We need the loanee club to cover much more of his wages IMO otherwise it's worth keeping him for cover. Ledley would be a very good signing but theres no rush as hes out of contract. He will not be interested in being a squad player though.
Expensive cover. Surely in the championship or even League 1 there's a decent holding midfielder around who's young, fit, playing regularly and would want to play for a top of the table club?
yeah boy aber`s thread is da bomb>>>>>>>can I have my transfer now please, I only want three hundred grand a week 2 warm a bench at Liverpool........I`d probably retire in 6 months and come back 2 you for free>>>>>>I`ll wear my Cardiff jim jams honest
Fulham, Hull & Bham going for it in this window. City cannot compete with them financially. City have done well in this window period. Getting in new players pre season was excellent by the manager. My only slight concerns are the absence of cover for a left footed full back, and cover for both a holding and box to box midfielder. Juries out on the keeper situation and on Ward and Bogel. BUT the best bit of business if it happens is keeping Zahore!
Ledley is only being touted because of his past history with the club - and that's not all rosey for those with longer memories. He wasn't exactly given a pat on the back by most City supporters when he ran his contract down and moved north of the border. That cost the club a justified compensation fee because of the different international rules. Having said that, he's a far better option off the bench for midfield than Halford who seems to have a permanent seat there under Warnock. I hesitate to question a manager of Warnock's stature but WTF does he see in him? I would have thought re-signing Ledley was a bit of a backward step for the club and he certainly wouldn't come cheap like Damour.
Another one out? BTW Dai, this site now seems free of the virus and phishing issues I pointed out last week. http://www.insidewalessport.co.uk/portsmouth-expected-o-keefe/
I dont see any negative in signing Ledley if he can fit into our wage structure. Hes not going to replace Ralls and Gunner at the moment. But the Championship is one hard slog. Everything looks great at the moment but I doubt Ralls and Gunner can keep this intensity of play over 46 games. Therefore in comes a quality player like Ledley. Hes obviously well liked and a charcater who will be great for the dressing room. Ive a feeling though that Warnock has someone else in mind and Ledley may be 2nd choice.
I agree. If Ledley did come though, there's no question he could do a job. I'd just question the cost because he would not come on the cheap.
