Get it done done quickly. Best thing for Declan and us. Hope it works out for him. Despite his lack of opportunities he has never publicly bad mouthed the club or management. Fair play to him.
Liked the boy but never rated him - looks like Warnock feels the same. Undoubted pace down the flanks but defensively wanting - his height (or lack of it) being a major issue. Good luck to him, but if he gets regular games with the Gers, what does that say about Scottish football in general?
Can only agree with your last comment Sparks. Cue - retaliatory comments from angry Jocks who happen to read this. They would, of course, be much better suited to the Premier League south of the border.
Bluey - reminds me of another of our young fullbacks who went north of the border but to Celtic that time - Adam Mathews. Lauded up big time up there and was reasonably impressive in their league. Went to Sunderland for a couple of mill and flopped big time. I think he's on loan at the Wurzels (he was last season anyway) and is not rated at all.
Difference was Matthews was/is too big for his boots and was openly critical(rightly or wrongly) of how he was managed with us. Looks like Declan is a lot more professional in his attitude. Pity he hasn't been able to live up to his potential. It would have been good to have a local boy (well Merthyr is isn't it?) doing well with us.
Bluey - in mentioning Mathews I was referring more to the "standard of football" up there rather than their personalities. Totally agree that Declan seems a thoroughly pleasant lad whereas Matthews had a very high opinion of himself. I don't know whether that was just media stuff on his part but he did have a point about DJ who handled the boy incredibly badly. When it comes down to doing your talking on the pitch, Matthews aquitted himself quite well in Scottish football but has been found wanting since returning south of the border - back to the "standard of football" discussion again.
Point taken Sparks. I was looking at the wider picture. You're right, he's back with the Wurzels on a season long loan but guess what? He's injured again. Another issue that has plagued his recent career. He's only started 15 games since the start of the 2015 season.
Hope this goes through, I never rated Declan as a full back I know he is small but did not hamper Gary Bell or more recent Fabio. He has pace but his defensive know how was terrible, the season he had a good few games poor Ben Turner was pulled out of position time and time again. I still think he could make his way in football but more in mid-field than full back.
Maybe another on the move....... https://lionofviennasuite.sbnation....sted-in-loan-move-for-cardiff-city-winger-efl
Adam Matthews is back at Sunderland. On the bench for them but saw him come on against Leeds. Clearly struggled in a poor Wurzel side last year. I dont think he will ever live up to his potential . I think he could have been a top player for us. Good move for Declan . Rangers and most of that league are league 1 / 2 standard but they are a big club. Noone , O'Keefe definately need to move on this window. Listen to offers for Pilkington as well. Id loan Kennedy with a recall clause. Be glad when the window shuts though. So far its been a great one. .
Job done for Declan - good luck lad. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-declan-john-from-cardiff-on-season-long-loan
matthews - he has made poor choices in his last two transfers. very rarely does a player go to Sunderland and maintain their reputation, never mind make any sort of improvement. if he had ended up with the right manager at the right club he could have improved steadily, instead of stagnating and basically playing to the same standard since he left us. as for john, at one stage i thought he'd be top class. before fabio became class i thought he should have been first choice. as others have said he hasn't done any talking in the media so he leaves with a clean slate and i hope he gets a good run at rangers. its probably make or break for him at 22.
John has probably started more PL games for City than championship. Doesn't seem like City will bring a midfielder in unless its under the radar and will be a late announcement Saw OS' link about Noone but doesn't anyone want Pilkington?
Another one out. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/out-favour-cardiff-city-winger-13553342
Good news on those leaving but would have preferred fees. Assume we're getting them off the wage bill and letting their contracts run down. Would take Ledley on an appropriate salary. Still niggles me the way he left but he would compliment our current CM three. Not an automatic first choice though. 11 hours to finish our business in and out (with the exception of free agents) and fight off the Zahore admirers. Credit to Colin for the way he's sorted business.
Interesting to note that as Ledley is a free agent, we could sign him after the window closes tonight. That may be the plan if another target fails to come off.
Good luck to him. Again, like Declan, has behaved very professionally. As a loaner he can't play against us.
Not sure. He could be looking to be a first choice and that would upset the balance we have now. Might take a wages drop to come to the Championship but would it be enough? And there's that bloody stupid dance.
Ledley will offer something by way of back up until Tomlin is fully fit, then he'll surely be consigned to the 2nd string. A one year deal maybe, not any longer than that.
