A good fair amount ( not all ) are doing it and will be doing it because ATM it's the fashionable thing to do, they won't really know much about what they are protesting for or against. Let's be honest.. how many would be doing it if it wasn't the "in thing" to do?
and yet we criticise youngsters for not doing anything..
I suspect 'the fashionable thing' may become more pressing for most of us as climate change is / does happen, though I suspect some of [made up statistic] the older ones amongst may not care or believe it, as some people believe the world is flat or only five thousand years old :(

Protesting against stuff is a great way to spend your formative years, and this seems a good reason too.
Good on em

So what if it's the in thing to do, they're still doing it and it's getting press coverage and it might just might make a difference. These are tomorrows voters, MP's will be well aware of that.
Anyway, many of the young folk I come across know more about the issues than many adults. Older folk put the barriers up because they can't stomach the thought of using their cars less, turning the heating down, eating less red meat, whatever. Youngsters have no such obstacles to their thinking.
We should all be supporting and encouraging them instead of patronising them

Watch we don’t stray too much into politics, ta.
You need to let this one go, Olm. It's an important subject and one that's impossible to avoid mentioning the political aspects of.

Xi Jinping, Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro and their mates have a massive responsibility to protect the planet.

We can't discuss this issue without mentioning their influence on the subject.

If it does stray too far, then yeah, sadly, you should close the thread.

So let's behave ourselves boys and girls, eh.

I try to fart in the bath under water rather than in the air.

Not ony reducing methane emissions but also a pleasing mini jacuzzi effect

If you put your legs together, the fart travels underneath them and comes up near your ankles.

It's very funny

Good on them to raise awareness .
Also good on some to raise the issue that they should be in school .
I love the originality of that reposte .
I mean there's no way that that hasn't been pushed by media <doh>

Given it’s the whole point of the ‘strike’ it just shows it worked.
Quite a few parents with young kids at the one in London. Looked a nice day out, but then I’ve never bought the strict way you can’t take kids out of school anyway. Couple of days out won’t harm anyone I don’t think.
