Trump is partially funded and supported by the US oil lobby and so pushing for easier and cheaper access to the remaining UK oilfields.
Around 40% of UK power came from low carbon production in 2024, a huge reduction on the reliance on fossil fuels over 20 years. It's no surprise to see why Trump is wanting a move the other way.
