What timing to score the winning goal, the Ajax players went down as if multiple snipers had shot them. Heart breaking for those young Ajax players but what an unbelievable feeling it must have been for the Spurs lads

It’s better than last night

Agreed.

Ajax actually was trying to win unlike Barca, it was in Amsterdam, and they had to turn around a 3-0 defecit in 45 minutes rather than 90.

Gotta feel for Ajax though. Such a good side that deserves so much credit for getting where they are, it's just a shame that team is going to be broken up now.

Liverpool did the 45 minute comeback deal in Istanbul, so decided to pace themselves and do it in 90 this time. Experience counts :emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0105-wink:

Gordon Bennett. I guess the tale of this should be never ever rule out English sides in European competitions. Still I had a Barca v Ajax final and would have put money on it if forced to. I hope Spurs v Liverpool is a corker and a credit to English football.
If Arsenal v Chelsea is the Europa Final then I guess this will be the first time both finals have been contested by teams from the same league.

Yep, it's never happened before.

European Cup/Champions League finals:

1999/2000 - Real Madrid vs. Valencia
2002/2003 - A.C. Milan vs. Juventus
2007/2008 - Manchester United vs. Chelsea
2013/2014 - Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid
2015/2016 - Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid

UEFA Cup/Europa League finals:

1971/1972 - Tottenham Hotspur vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
1979/1980 - Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Monchengladbach
1989/1990 - Juventus vs. Fiorentina
1990/1991 - Internazionale vs. Roma
1994/1995 - Parma vs. Juventus
1997/1998 - Internazionale vs. Lazio
2006/2007 - Sevilla vs. Espanyol
2010/2011 - Porto vs. Braga
2011/2012 - Atletico Madrid vs. Athletic Bilbao

If Kane, Salah and Firmino are all OK for the final the scorers who got both teams there could all be on the bench. Funny old game...

What happens if Spurs finish 4th, win the champions league, Arsenal win the europa league. Does England have 5 teams or do Chelsea drop out?

The similarity with Istanbul was that Ajax walked off the pitch at half time believing they had already won, just like Milan in 2005. The crowd were already celebrating as they kicked off the second half. Once Spuds got about them they couldn't get the momentum back.
