i fail to see why they bought long yet not given him a chance with marshalls track record. desperately need for a tackling midfielder and a couple of strikers.

If Long is half decent (I haven't seen him play so don't know), he'll be the number one at some point over the next 12 months

Sell-ons are pretty much always just based on the profit.
I will have to have a Google and see what comes up.

If it is based on profit alone it’s a ****e deal.

I do remember us taking a small fee from Wigan to waive the sell on for Carroll. Then he went to Man United and we **** out. The Sheffield Steelers pocketed that no doubt

Nige meeting boy wonder today to talk about transfers, bet Enob says hey agree we need players Nigel, lets meet next week and do it.

It's not a **** deal, why would a buying club agree to a sell on even if they make a loss on the player. You're agreeing to a share of their profit, that's all.

As soon as Long gets a chance I don't see Marshall getting back in. From the one youtube vid I saw of Long he has better distribution, command of area and generally better reflexes. Plus he's still young with alot of room for improvement. Adkins will be relishing the chance to develop a young keeper like that. On the other hand he still has to keep Marshalls confidence up.

At the cost of an average of 3 goals a game. I hope he doesn’t try to keep Marshall’s confidence up for too long.

I was under the impression that a sell on fee was just that. They sell the player and we get a cut, irrespective of if a profit was made.

As I explained in the earlier posts.

It depends on what is signed in the deal. If it's only on profit, and the player leaves for the same or less than what he left us for, we wouldn't get anything. If we sold a player for £10m and he went for £15m a year later, and we had a 10% profit clause, we'd get £500k, not £1.5m. As the details are often left out, we won't ever know exactly how much we get, but it's never as much as we think it is.

Marshall needs to go/be dropped. Some players just don't work at some club's and he's obviously one. A new start is needed for all asap
