I'm surprised that so few vintage supporters ever mention Ken Houghton in the same breath as KW, CC & IB.
IMO he was the brains & on-field driving force behind that wonderful '60's City team.
Never thought of myself as being a Vintage Supporter...but I rather like it.
I prefer it to "antique", which is often a "distressed" piece that has been refurbished. Maybe "classic" has a more appealing ring to it.
I wonder about old. Tends to be viewed as "decrepit and unrecyclable".

Populist scientists typically get bad press - eventually. The positive is they can sometimes stimulate a small portion of their audiences to get into the business of science. They (the new recruits) will follow the scientific method and increase our understanding of what's actually real.
Blind alleys are numerous and inevitable, but a necessary variable in the advancement of knowledge . Einstein hit a few. Hawking maybe the same. Both have advanced our understanding and clarified the roadmap somewhat.
As Sagan once said: "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". He may have nicked it from a wiser sage, yet it inspired many a budding scientist thereafter.

Having the City transfer thread turn into a debate about Quantum physics seems to show that the level of the participant on these threads is above average intellectually IMO
