Dissappointing. Would like to have seen him return. How the heck could we lose out on him? Or were we only in it to drive up the price for our sellon clause?

I'd have thought WBA could easily out muscle us financially? I also think they'll have expectations to be pushing for a quick return to the PL.

And another...

Brighton winger Jiri Skalak is in advanced talks over a move to Millwall (we had a bid for him rejected last week).

I’m not really surprised, given what we’ve spent already. And yes, it is that bad.

I didn’t think Skalak was that good, he was good for Brighton in the Championship but he didn’t come anywhere near forcing his way into the Premier League squad.

Shame but not surprising with CT. I think he'll do quite well.

As for the Brighton winger, aren't we talking much of a muchness? With, probably, a few similar options available for us to buy.

As much as I despise this regime and am dubious about their intentions, I also don't want them to just pay what other clubs want/ask.

There must be negotiation, gamesmanship etc to achieve value. That means we'll miss out sometimes and providing our intentions are genuine to strengthen - we will strengthen.

Don't talk sense on here....it upsets the natives

West Brom confirm the signing of Conor Townsend on a three year deal.

We’ll get 2-300k of out the deal.

Becomes clear now.
A player Nige would like, so , we try to get him for absolute peanuts, or else drive up the price a bit to get quarter mill to then spend on someone else who we can buy for that money or less (= free signing).
That's our reality these days.
Even better, put it in your pocket Allams and **** off.

Seems like a great business ploy to me.

We were never going to pay circa 700k for him and he was likely to always choose WBA over us.

Agree, and didn't mean to imply otherwise.
Credit to Ehab and Darnborough for some of the business they are doing,
That's just how it is, at least until the Allams **** off.
Hope they manage to do a fair bit more business before the window closes, as we have nowhere near enough depth yet.

It's so ****ing easy to make a low bid knowing it won't be accepted, but the many gullible fans will see it as the club are trying hard to do business.

Err no one is seeing it as that kempton.
We've just stirred up interest to get a sell on fee.
Townsend was highlighted before everyone except lichaj, our first signing. We've made plenty of signngs but not Townsend. Educated guess we weren't that bothered about him. But we highlighted to others he was available and we got a sell on fee for that.
