Anyone remember Leicester? Threw disgusting amounts at promotion for years, didn't do **** all. Owner decided to run the club on a proper budget, most their super expensive fancy dan signings ****ed off at a huge loss.

Then they got promoted.

They broke ffp. Cheated on a sponsorship deal to get round it. Bent as **** the Leicester lot.

Nige has admitted the remainder of our signings could come after the Villa game.

He has said that in previous years it’s happened in the last few days of the window, and “that won’t change”.

He’s changed his tune.

“I’m pleased with the players we have in but we still need more to get the squad at a position where we can be competitive in this division,” said Adkins, whose City side host Newcastle United at the KCOM Stadium this evening.

“From my point of view, you want to have your team in place at the start of pre-season. Definitely before the start of the season.

“I’ve no issues with the transfer window coming forward. A lot of deals are done in the last few days so, potentially, after we play Villa, a lot of activity will go on.

"Then the loan window opens for the rest of the month. That is where you will get the knock-on effect of players who have not gone somewhere. Maybe Brandon Barker, who we’ve mentioned before.

“They have to find homes as well. There has been a hold-up but in recent years the majority of deals are done in the last few days of the window. That won’t change.”

To my mind, you are taking the wrong meaning from what he said. Those closing comments are about the generic situation. He makes it pretty clear earlier in his comments what he wants / wanted.
And fair play to him for once again publicly cranking up the pressure on Ehab (whether that is his explicit intention or not). And fair play to him for saying it as it is i.e. the squad as it stands is not going to be competitive.

Surely it can’t just be the fans that see we need more up front. Unless they’re going to play Bowen there?
 
Don’t think he’s changed his tune at all. He said he wanted the players before pre season and almost definitely before the season. He’s trying to put more pressure on the idiots in charge.

The one thing I don’t agree with is his ifinite optimism saying we don’t have a squad to challenge in the top half at the moment, more like we barely have a squad to stay up!

His remark's remind me of David Moyes when he was Sunderland manager, when he stated after a couple of game's into the season, that they were in a relegation battle (as it turned out he was right)it has been said maybe he's sending jnr a message, the only problem is jnr too thick to read it.

Grosicki has not returned to training, due to a personal matter (he personally wants to play somewhere else), but he will apparently return on Friday.

According to Adkins, we're a “long way off” reaching an agreement for transfer targets Oliver Norwood, Jiri Skalak and Conor Townsend.

We've spoken to Brandon Barker, but he's not high up our list of targets, so no deal imminent.
 
All a bit cryptic with Grosicki...

“He was due back but he’s had a little situation,” said Adkins. “It’s private and we’ve got total empathy. There’s nothing sinister behind it all. It’s a genuine situation.

“Something has happened and it’s no-one else’s business. We’re aware of it and he’ll be back on Friday.

“It’s frustrating that he’s not back this week but it’s total empathy for him. He should be back on Friday but then we’ve got to get him going again.”
