Christ watch the fall out from this .....

In a way I can see why some clubs tell players they are not entertaining largesse.

'Ordinary' jobs get base salary and perhaps an annual bonus.

Footballers want that on a grander scale and more .... a weekly bonus if they do well at their job and 'win a game', but they even get payments (certainly in the Premier League they do) for inclusion in the match day squad as a non playing sub. FACT.

I think it's when some clubs pay peanuts before they even discuss add ons that makes player think '**** that'. .Perhaps that is what happens at the best run club in the country, Hull City Tigers 1904.
A conversation yesterday with a good friend of Connors concluded he's been realistic about his worth and not inflating any demands. However the basic contract offer minus any bonuses renders no appetite to sign. Whether there's any movement on the current offer we shall see

And probably if footballers were offered a decent 'basic' the lack of add ons might not be crucial to signing. But when they are being offered peanuts, the add ons make that difference.

Don't begrudge young men like Conor (Connor?) wanting to look after themselves, but looking towards City for that?? The actions of juniors and seniors recently suggests they're better looking elsewhere.

And that leads nicely on to what exactly is happening to the parachute payments?

So looks like Ehab has given Adkins a budget of around £500,000 judging by the bids.
Adkins has no chance is it January the last parachute payment comes in.

Sorry Chazz but that’s not true. How many genuine academy prospects have we had in our first team or made serious money on a transfer fee that has exceeded the cost of their development?

I’d hazard a guess and say it’s close to zero.
It's only go tgoing the last few years and already bore fruit.
In the previous thirty years what did we have?

There is an interview somewhere, it was Pennock who knew about Bowen thru previous connections. It was Pennock who went and spoke to him, and Pennock who convinced him to sign.

Steve Bruce just happened to be the manager at the time, Bowen would have signed for whichever club pennock was working at.

Maybe if you'd have posted my post GLP, chazz wouldn't have got all hissy about it. Stilllllll .........

All the work that has been put in over a numbers of years to get the Academy where it is (probably now just over it's peak) is sadly being undone.

Sadly our 'Golden Generation' has been / is being frittered away.

There's a bigger picture behind the scenes rather than a forum conflict between a couple of posters.

ALLAMS OUT !!!!
Golden generation <laugh><laugh><laugh>

“I knew Tony Pennock (City’s current first team coach) because he’d played for me when I was manager at Newport,” said Beadle. “We’d stayed in touch and I’d mentioned Jarrod to him because a few clubs were showing an interest.

“Tony watched him a couple of times and was very keen. Jarrod had offers from West Brom and Wolves but him and his Dad chose Hull in the end.

Your mate might want to keep quite about the "offer" made to him. Doesn't sound like Scunthorpe have given us permission to speak to him so either your mate is missing informed or we are tapping up.

Danny Kerr from Dundee has been linked (didn't see it on Page 1) according to HITC. Centre half, 22. Had a very good season. Valued at £500k. Expect a £10k bid to go in imminently.
