The team has some way to go yet plus there is Snodgrass and Diame to come back as well as Hernandez to show what he can do at this level.
We should have got the three points but we were lucky with getting a penalty and unlucky in having McGreggor drop the ball.
We had no luck at all last season and it looks like there is still an after effect but time will tell.
I still believe in big Tom but who is he going to pass the ball to at this stage. Brady has gone and Elmo simply wasn't there on Sunday (and I don't know why either but it was obviously some tactic or other).

But that is how he has played since he arrived. He's playing his natural game. His goals are always goals from distance or set pieces. The not set piece goals are generally from distance, as he's the last to arrive. He's played well in the last 2 games. The problem is Hayden has tried to copy him and sit deep too - which doesn't work. Look how much better we were when Meyler came on and carried the ball forward.
but Hayden is a cb/defensive midfielder so he's playing his natural game and not copying tom. So if as you say toms a deep midfielder then there's another problem we've got 2 players playing the same role.

Looked like a cast-iron penalty to me Laurie....not a lucky one. Marriner was perfectly positioned to see it and called it right...blatant shove in the back on Davies by Hause. As for their goal, Burns called it right too..."one of the worst goalkeeping errors" he'd ever seen.

If Snodgrass and Diame come back healthy next month, and with Aluko playing a LW role instead of Clucas, we should be set in MF even if Huddlestone goes. Odubajo can step into Elmos RWB spot if he goes and Meyler can play a more attacking MF role but we still need a creative CMF player who can score like Koren. Maybe Maloney could be that player.

PLEASE MODS LOCK THIS THREAD AND CONSIGN IT TO THE GARBAGE HEAP WHERE IT BELONGS BEFORE THESE IDIOTS DRIVE US ALL MAD. "Not606" has become a lunatic asylum. These people are not clever or amusing....they are onnoxious and BORING!!

If you simply want to know where we are with transfers, just look at the first post on this thread, it's updated the minute anything happens.

The rest of the thread needs to continue as it is, otherwise we'll never know who won the post #10,000 debate, or if Cairney scored for Fulham.

Yes, sorry Roger, I didn't mean the penalty was 'lucky' I meant that we were fortunate in getting one which was against the run of play at the time. Without the penalty we would have have come away pointless after McGreggors howler and that would have been undeserved. We were also unlucky in hitting the woodwork - could have so easily have gone in but 'thems the breaks'!

Re the Huddlestone situation. We know that if he does go then we're going to get a tonne of money for him. It should be enought to replace him with a top, top championship player and we might even get Amalfitano too.

A couple of the papers are claiming that we're trying to do a swap deal for Amalfitano, maybe we're being offered him on loan as a sweetner? (If they trigger his release clause, they don't really need to offer us a sweetner, but it seems they definitely want rid of him)

Well I doubt that we'd be able afford all his wages now either.

Not sure about Amalfitano. Clearly ability-wise he'd be great for this level, but not sure about his attitude.

If we're losing Thudd, go for it. At least he'll sweeten the deal.
