Hopefully we'll play towards his strengths. Looking at his goals over the past couple of seasons, he seems to thrive on balls over the top and being sent through 1 on 1, usually calmly slotting past the keeper.

Bring in a quality no.10 to play behind him and he will score 20+ goals this season for us.

Well, that's him well xxxxed then. How many 'balls over the top' or 'balls sent through 1 to 1' did you see last season? His best bet is to get down to B&Q and a buy a step ladder to help him meet the crosses from the wing backs.

I think it's a good thing to fight for a fair price. The stories coming out that we agreed a deal then withdrew it, agreed the Moses deal and then tried to tie it in with Gray worry me. The stories may well just be that, but baring in mind with the circus we have had at this club - it wouldn't surprise me if we have been trying to pull some strange manoeuvres.
All our negotiations under Ehab seem to of gone smoothly imo (maybe with the exception of Long first time around) I just get the sense the mess coming from this one is from the Brentford end and they're using their man in the media Jacob Murtagh to shift the blame over to us

I think we should target someone else, **** over Brentford at the last minute and pounce on the other striker. We're over paying by a lot if it's £9 million... and it doesn't sound like it's 7+2million more like 9 million + add ons...

I have a bad feeling about this deal. Seems like the kind of player who will be moved out of his comfort zone, pressured to succeed quickly by a big price tag... It's far more of a punt than many of you seem to think.

I was about to post something similar, big price tag, lots of pressure and expectation to live up to, moving from conference to a tin pot league side to a bigger side with lots of big names, internationals, it can be very daunting. These are the kinds of signings that can go south.

Don't get me wrong, from what very little ive seen of him he looks a good and exciting player, but the fees being banded around are getting really silly, Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic cost less with premier league money at our disposal for perspective. Let's hope this lad doesn't crack under the pressure.

I think you're spot on with his style of play and what we need to support him, but can Aluko be that player? I was intrigued by some of the comment about Aluko being heads-up and far more aware; I think this is the difference between him being okay and bloody special. I have to admit to being hopeful, as Aluko is far too good to let him slip into mediocrity.
The thing with forwards is they'll miss more than they score, therefore, if he does get 20 goals he'll have a **** load of attempts which will mean good attacking football. I hope noone gets on his back for the amount he'll miss as we don't want to have his head down and need him to keep attempting the shots to convert into goals

Edit: that sounded better in my head than written down, hope ou understand what I'm trying to get at
<laugh> Love your edit; we can all put our hands up to that one!

As for your observation on forwards I do wonder if you are right. At this level forwards rarely get attempts on goal and when they do their conversion, I think, is fairly decent. I would be intrigued at what the stats wallahs can pull out, as you might be right, but it just seems wrong.

Chester not having a great time on MNF against Man City. He's playing right back with no protection in front of him. They put a few crosses in from his side causing problems.

Aluko being heads up and far more aware?
Aluko being good one on one with the goalkeeper?
I thought these were Aluko's biggest failings? Along with falling down and being a crap penalty taker.

Bollox, Diamé is way better than red mist Joey.. oh one moment they sold him to,us!! Huddlestone is better too but they won't want ex-Spuds down the Boleyn..

It depends what type of midfielder they want and I think Barton is better for them, as his style would be for us. (Alongside Maloney)

I heard today that this Gray lad is a bit of a gangsta type from Wolverhampton. Scar on his face was a knife attack, apparently.

Hope he's turned a corner.

I used to feel confidence when Adam Pearson was conducting transfer business, it was more like with one eye open and a grimace with Paul Duffen, but with Ehab I'm rocking back & forth, eyes screwed shut, hands over ears and screaming la-la-la! Hoping for dear life that he doesn't just completely **** it up!!

<laugh><laugh> Brilliant, just brilliantly right!!!
