And aren't wingers supposed to score?

No, strikers are supposed to score. Wingers are supposed to provide wide attacking threats and play the ball into the box.

Wingers aren't always goalscorers. I've never got why people think of them as big goalscorers.

If they scored loads of goals, they'd be strikers.

Elliott was one of those rare breeds.

Scored 2 in 20 for Wigan in the Championship.

What's the point in just highlighting one season when he only scored a couple, particularly as he's not a striker?

In his last Premier League season he scored 6 and had 9 assists in 36 games, better than any player we've ever had in the Premier League.

He'd be a brilliant addition, he's a very tidy player.

Wingers are basically strikers with pace who prefer not to be front and centre where they'll cop the attention of the centre backs. E.g. Aluko, Ince, etc. They should still be expected to score, especially in a 4-3-3 sort of formation where they are well and truly up on the same line as the striker.

Because we'll be playing in the Championship? Thought that would be a relevant league of stats to look at.

He's also, what 3 years older than he was when he did that? He's playing in the MLS FFS..

You seem to have contracted something from TigerRoo.

The main job of wingers is not scoring.

He'd be a great signing, pure and simple.

The Maloney signing could be exactly what we need attacking wise and also to compliment and advise the younger players Bruce is bringing in.

He's 32, washed up, playing in the MLS, and scored 2 goals in the Championship 12 months ago. Sorry for not being over the moon.

I think he is tired and it's past his bedtime. Will someone give him a cup of Horlicks and read him a story?

We should bring in Tim Cahill then, I hear he's still scoring for fun.. in China..

So is Tom Ince a striker in people's eyes? Because he scores lots of goals? FFS. A winger isn't a midfielder.
