The Elmo story is pie in the sky and a non starter.

Our kid will make enquiries tomorrow - just remember the Ince and Brady scoops.

Elmo wouldn't have a buy-out clause as he was signed in the Championship and thus wouldn't have had a relegation clause - unless he signed improved terms in the PL. As such we could hold out for whatever we wanted. No way we sell for 3m.

Problem is contracts are worthless these days. If Elmo''s head gets turned with an offer to double his wages then he may want to go. May as well cash in on a player that does not want to be here.

Big Vern

Unfortunately he's another one of the last year of his contract jobs and 3 million is about right considering he's not a homegrown player like Brady or Chester who tendto to go for more ...
Hope its a load of crap myself but where would sky get a story like this from?

He can want to go, doesn't mean we want to sell. Contracts aren't worthless when the employer holds the power.

From the rag that made it up.

Why hang onto a player that wants out if his wages are being increased elsewhere. The fact he is under contract means City would get a transfer fee should he go.

Looking to me like we'll be playing a 4-4-2 come opening day:

McGregor
Taylor Dawson Davies Robertson
Elmo Meyler Huddlestone Clucas
Aluko
Jelavic/New Striker

This assuming Chester and N'Doye both leave. Decent championship team, stronger than the last time we went up. Harsh on Maguire though he definitely deserves a starting spot

Sky don't normally post unsubstantiated bollocks. They do a 'paper roundup', but any story they actually run tends to have legs to it.

Elmo was signed after we were promoted. Even if he wasn't he could have any sort of buy out clause. Players get things like flights to their favourite holiday destinations, free coffee and gangbangs for their parents in London hotels and all sorts added into their contracts. He could have a clause that allows him to leave if he walks into the centre circle and bares his bum for all we know, theres no set criteria for them, they're not all based around relegation or whatever.

Coming to think of it, Sunderland wanted to sell him when he came on loan, then tried again to force his and our hand when they recalled him in January but he didn't want to commit to a permanent contract unless we got promoted.

Baffles me that, signing Taylor but letting Rosie go.. Rosie is the better player, professional and is less likely to break his leg if its a bit windy on the pitch.

Rosie wanted to stay; we let him go. Macca wanted to stay; we let him go. Quinn wanted to go; we tried to keep him. Ince wanted to go; we tried to keep him.

Letting Rosie go only to replace him with a sick-note like Taylor is outright ******ed but I expect nothing less from our owners and a manger who persevered with a ****ty formation all season.

I hope to God we make better signings than a League 1 player and a full-back who has spent most of his career in the medical room than the pitch. What happened to our interest in Whittingham? Can't have been serious because instead of making a bid we've resorted to giving trials to overweight midfielders and nobodies from the Maltese leagues.

Except that he loves Bruce and has only ever been played by Bruce in England - MON didn't want him at Sunderland - so why would he turn his back on him?

Ah yes, forgot about that.
