Couldn't they just say we agreed the deal how brentford wanted it, the deal between brentford and Luton Is exactly that
We could. But it would be far more ethical and sensible for us to agree with Brentford on a price (their asking price (or close as dammit) for the ex-Luton player) and for us to pay the sell-on fee in addition to Brentford, who in turn would (contractual trickle-down) pass it on. Fully documented transaction.
Any negotiation for the other player (O...jo) would be where the trade-off is made - in a clean, ethical trade. We should not be, and are highly unlikely to be, trying to screw Luton. We are trying to get the best deal for the pair from Brentford.
If anything, we'd be trying to screw Brentford (better term would be "reach a mutual agreement" between us and Brentford. Are Luton lawyers involved in the process of negotiation I wonder ?
ellewoods is partially correct in his statement (trying to screw Luton), but it has to be structured appropriately, because it's City and Brentford who are trying to screw each other.

It's about time we either pay pretty much what they want or move on , seems stupid to agree a deal with Moses the other day to then do this , still think next bid gets accepted

Bet moses wont be to happy either traveling up here medical agree terms and this happens

I presume rightly or wrongly that SB has consulted with the Allams regarding this sudden change of tactic, it has been mentioned that he has stated both or neither, lets see how this pans out before stringing them up

Our owners ****ing something up? Surely not!!
Ha ha we don't know this for certain, im sure it'll get sorted and there'll be more to it than we know. (I'm convinced there has to be on the basis we don't get as far as agreeing a fee and terms/medical with one player then saying only if we can sign your mate aswell)
That'd be like saying to an ugly bird I'll only **** you if I can **** your fit mate :)

The defender deal is done and shaken on.
The rest is just us trying to bag two, with them playing hardball.

It's hardly a cock up, more them trying to get the best deal with us trying the same.

Paying a lump for both means you can argue structure and repayment. If we walk away from the double deal the single player is still sorted.
