We need to replace him as we have 4 centre backs, considering we play 3-5-2 (5-3-2 in reality) we need at least one more. Bruce has experimented with 4-4-2 in pre-season yes, but he did this last season for about 3 games and went back to 3-5-2. (Which I must admit that it was mainly due to injuries)

Bruce pays £8 mill for Livermore and sells Chester for £8 mill - Chester should have gone for more but no doubt wanted out to play in the Prem to reinforce his Wales credentials and get a chance to play in the world cup - good luck to him, City's best defender - no doubt would have stayed if Bruce hadn't got us relegated
Really sorry to see Chessy go, but with a year left on his contract to get £8m for him has to be a good deal. Also he deserves to play in the EPL, quality player.

This^ We're going to miss his reading of the game and precise tackles/interceptions, but we've all known he'd be going since relegation.
I think he can, definitely, but obviously very differently. Their physical attributes are polar opposites. Dawson going would have been better for Maguire, I think our first choice will be Dawson and Davies now, with Junior 3rd and Maguire 5th behind Ryan Taylor as he's too young and needs protecting.
Players come and go - it's all part of the re-development of a team.
