He last played in England when he was 20. Players improve.
He had a loan spell in Scotland with Dallied when he was young. His strike rate in that spell was better then in recent years. He is **** and is league one standard at best. Scottish football is joke, anyone could score goals in that league.

You mean Falkirk. Maybe he had a better strike rate as they weren't in the Scottish Premier League?

Yep, Jela had a great strike rate there before Everton signed him. That went alright?

Aluko was pretty good there and he did ok in the Championship?

Aluko is rubbish and jela has hardly been prolific in England. Didn't he go many months without a goal at Everton before he moved to us. We should be looking at Rhodes etc. Players who have consistently scored at this level.

Yeah, you got a spare 12m?

Aluko was brilliant in the Championship.. or have you only followed us in the PL?

Jela started incredibly well for Everton in the first 12 months, then had a lean patch, then started scoring regularly again for us.

Rhodes is the new Campbell when it comes to who people say we should sign. Need someone? For the next 3 years you are to insert "Rhodes". It doesn't matter if we can afford him, it doesn't matter if he wants to come here, it doesn't matter if we even need a striker, just insert "Rhodes". After 3 years we will reevaluate which player will be inserted next.

No, and you go on to prove my point. All of that wonderfully inspiring nonsense is great if you have time to work on it and that is the whole point I have made; his legs are gone (you know, the legs of a strong professional football midfielder) and we, between now and the first week of August, do not have the luxury of time to put that right as we are already carrying crocked midfielders. This ain't rocket science, stop looking for an argument and find some basic reasoning instead. Wilson (not Johnny) is simply not fit for our purpose.

By the way, I've left it to the so-called football experts before and they didn't impress too much, so until they sort themselves out I'll rely on my own judgement when discussing it on here - if that's okay with you. <doh>

Tripe.

So you think WP can be made match fit for the start of the season?

He will still have trained for the past year, he just hasn't been involved in games. Bruce thinks it is worthwhile having a look at him having managed him twice before, so we should trust his judgement. He's a free signing, there's not much to lose other than wages, which is less risky if it's a pay as you play deal until he proves himself. I believe he'll be playing against Ferriby on Friday, so they'll be able to see how his match fitness is.

Palacios is unlikely to excite anyone, he used to be brilliant, but he's lost his way in recent years. It seems Hughes was happy to give him a run the season before last, but unfortunately he got injured and couldn't get back in at all last season.

There was a bloke from Stoke on Sportstalk last night, who was rather more encouraging. He said he fell apart a bit when his brother died, but he still has a lot of ability and if he could get fit and stay fit, he could turn out to be a shrewd acquisition.

The stories of him now being a fat useless lump seem to have been grossly exaggerated, he doesn't look overweight at all, probably best to judge him after we've actually seen him in a couple of pre-seasons.

I would very much doubt it and even then, after a years lay off, he would surely need some game time in the reserves.
I am of the opinion that he is at least 3 months away at the earliest but we have 'sources' on these boards who can enlighten us.

Aye, I'd agree, that is if he showed any bottle for a very hard 3 months graft and there has been little evidence of that for some time.
