How many of the Villa players would get in our first team? Vlaar possibly Westwood Benteke/Weimann/Bent There squad is pretty bad, they are overachieving at the moment. They should be doomed. I don't want to go too much into Lambert as he has gone now, but you can't deny he has done a good job at Villa so far.
A point several (including moi) have raised. And by deploying two holding mids, it frees up their two centre backs and a defensive mid - if they use one, to snuff out any possible danger from Wes and whoever plays up front ahead of him. Just like the goalless draw against Fulham in Jan. So, basically, 19 Premier League managers now know how to negate/upset Norwich's preferred style of play. Only one EPL manager is not wise to this fact
Thing is though, Beef does have a very good point. Under CH Newcastle finished top of the Championship with record points total and a massive + goal difference. In comparison we scraped into the EPL. I know you would say that they had better players etc.......... but he still did it and we all know how hard it is to get out of the Championship, just ask our friends down the road. Was he still playing the same formation then? I distinctly remember Newcastle giving a Ipswich a good humping at PR. I think we need to get to the end of the season and hopefully still be in the premier league and then let Hughton build his own squad. The RVW signing I hope is a sign of things to come and then hopefully the formation will work and the brand of football we play will improve with the upgraded players we buy. Fingers crossed.
But these players that need 'upgrading' are the same ones, largely, who did the business for us last season at this level with plenty to spare, in the end. Benno, Wes, Pilks, R Martin, Bradders. It's the Hughton system stifling them, clearly, because 12 months ago we were sitting there watching them do the frickin' business for us
Same players don't always work year in year out. Never had done. Did everyone just expect Hughton to come in and play exactly as lambert played? What respect would be get from that. He's his own man and he's carving his own path. It won't be like this forever.
I thought this had all died down, why do you have to bring it up again? I apologised ages ago and given there was no response assumed people would just let go. I, personally, have no interest in the ignore button because I'm keen to hear other people's opinions no matter if they are completely opposite to my own. Inevitably with this, you get people who are unnecessarily rude and provocative in disagreeing with you, but I'm afraid I am not going to let them stand by being offensive.
If there was any doubt (which I don't think there was!) that Hughton is restraining players, this interview with Howson is pretty revealing: http://www.clubcall.com/norwich-city/howson-follows-hughtons-orders-1570858.html I think this is terrible (though not surprising) news. I can't help but feel that Howson's form has damaged his confidence. As possibly our best player in the final third of last season, it's clear that Hughton is stopping him do his best. Hopefully, if Hughton has a bit more faith in his players next season, Howson will be allowed to be in the more advanced role he excels at.
I predicted them to finish 20th to be honest. As I said, Villa have the worst squad in division in my opinion, I think'll they will stay up and that'll be a great achievement. I am fairly certain the average age of that team is lowest the Premier League has ever seen.
The way I saw it, the last post in you and Munky's spat was still less than civil, with threats to leave. I figured pointing out a site feature you might find helpful could help at least calm things down. I don't know how aware people are of all the site features, seeing as I'm still finding some myself. Apologies if I've called it wrong. And that's your choice if you don't want to use it. Sorry for trying to be helpful.
I must admit, I don't remember seeing a threat to leave - I didn't write one. As far as I'm concerned, my last post was an apology and was civil. I hope it wasn't interpreted any other way. No need to apologise - it was simply the fact that I understood that everyone was letting it lie, yet a day later you post and inevitably Munky has another dig.
As one of zillions of neutrals on here I somehow doubt an "explanation" is either required or appropriate. My post does exactly what it said on the tin, simples
So, despite "zillions of neutrals" calling for this to be set aside, despite my apology and despite my post to DHCanary emphasising that this was all long finished, you thought you'd have one last stir? Brilliant. In fact, you really ought to explain yourself, given that the only person exacerbating the issue is you. For the last time - DROP IT.
FFS! Can you just stop it?! This is a football forum I want to debate all things football not have threads get hijacked and pulled off course all the time while 2 people just slate each other. Can you just do it on a different forum please, one that is for slagging each other off. Dave, This is getting ridiculous now, it really is.
Thanks Kemp. FAOD, I was not intending to slate anyone. I hope that's not how it looks. Back to football, as I posted earlier: if there was any doubt (which I don't think there was!) that Hughton is restraining players, this interview with Howson is pretty revealing: http://www.clubcall.com/norwich-city/howson-follows-hughtons-orders-1570858.html I think this is terrible (though not surprising) news.
