Just going back to referees . . . . my mind may not be as sharp as it once was, but I seem to remember in the 2008 / 9 season (or maybe 2009 / 10), that we were doing quite well with refs and decisions, until Anfield away. That Dutch bloke - Kuyt I think - blatantly pushed Turner out of the way, twice, to allow Gerrard to score, twice, in one of our first crushing defeats. Brownie blows off at the ref and, I think is fined. After that, I seem to remember every 50 50 decison going against us in the games that followed - culminating in the worst refereeing I had seen @ Burnley away (so it may have been 2009/10)
Ok, the facts may be a little skewed, but I do remember this quite clearly. The point being that Brucie should be a bit careful when being outspoken against referees because we know they are untouchable. Pawson and now Foy have indeed cost us 3+ points, but we dont want to be the team that doesnt get the 'rub of the green' from the refs.
Maybe Bruce is more respected in Footballing circles than Brownie, but I would urge caution when being so blatantly outspoken.
I don't have the answer in terms of what should be done to stop 'bigger' teams getting decisions, I just think that this is not going to do us any favours in the long run.
