I thought at the start of the season that he would be our best player this season. He seemed to lose interest months ago. I would be sad to see him go but if we get the right price for him and that gives us funds to re-invest, well then, he has to go. Shame as he could have proved to be a great player for us if his attitude was right, which it obviously wasn't.
There's no question that he has ability, but he does have a questionable attitude and would often go missing in games especially away from LR. He also gets eased off the ball too easily too often. please log in to view this image
What is the right price for Chery? Personally i cant see us getting that much for a player who regularly goes missing in games..Ollie kindly says hes having a dip in confidence,id say it was a case of not really giving a f***
The most talented player in our current squad, but hasn't delivered enough. He'll be a better player with better management/coaching. Let's get what we can and buy a couple more Mackies.
Selling him means we don't have to play him in the 10 role and the whole formation has to be dictated around him. We've got some options now. We had 'too many number 10's' and he'd presumably fetch the most money so it's a sensible choice. We've got Doughty back and Manning breaking through now, so it's the best move for both parties really.
I remember reading somewhere he has created the most chances in the Championship (it was a few weeks ago) and there is not doubt he is very talented. Problem is fitting him into the system - recently seemed like a bit of a square peg despite the fact that successive managers identified him as central to their plans. Sad to see a decent player move on, but agree that we need players committed to the cause. If he wants to go it's simply a question of getting the maximum return on investment. Fully expect if he goes to Villa or Newcastle (as suggested) he will be a big success when surrounded by better quality players - until they struggle that is...
Such a pity if this is true. I'd rather we worked on him and helped him develop the talent he clearly has and to try and alter his (alleged) present attitude. Sell and replace and we get the usual lottery with a new player who could prove less effective. Surely it's better to try and repair than replace.
Not surprised or bothered. I have constantly watched him under-perform. Get some sausage for him and buy someone on the way up!
I have a feeling that he will do a Matty Phillips and shine in the Premier League eventually. Clearly doesn't want to be here, so get rid and get a striker in.
He'd probably look better with better players. I can't honestly see him going to a lower half Prem side as he's not good enough to be accommodated like someone like Payet. Could see him going back to Holland or elsewhere abroad.
returning to Holland because he is homesick (although not that far away) could be a reason. Plus the JFH Dutch connection has gone. At the moment we don't need luxury players, just those that care about the club and want to see it rise
He'll go on to great things and be a quality Premier player. I think he'll suit the Premier League more than the Championship. Just hope we're not silly and let him go for nothing.
If we don't sell him, we run the risk of him poisoning our squad. As others have said, flick him off and get some fresh interested striker. I'd even consider recalling SWP. .............ok, I really wouldn't.
So about 1.5 yrs. On 20 July 2015, Chery moved from FC Groningen to Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.[6] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tjaronn_Chery
